quick question, car feels like it lags

ok guys i need help, my car is acting kind of funny. it feels like i lost a lot of low end power, i dunno what happened. all i have is a AEM CAI. every time i shift it feels like the car lags, it takes a long time for it to accelerate, longer than before. it feels like i'm floorin the pedal but my car isn't really going. also my car makes a loud poping sound every now and then, it sounds like it comes from the engine or the CAI. i drove around during the rain with my CAI on, i don't think i sucked in water, and if i did it was only a little, but i dunno. someone please help. CAI's rob low end power. Go back to the stock intake.

i know CAI's rob low end power, but for some reason all of a sudden it got real low. when i had my CAI on before it wasn't this low. i also just remembered that my car is due for an oil change, but i don't think that has anything to do with it. could my CAI maybe have a hole in it, or maybe the filter is real dirty. i really want to figure out what is wrong with it right away.

Have you checked to make sure everything is still tight? With the popping noises you're hearing it almost sounds as if you've knocked something loose....I drove my LX in the water and found where the bottom of the Injen CAI came out it was popping against the liner...I fixed the problem with a wire tie and no more noises

If it revs high and still doesn't go fast, it may be the clutch going bad. This would happen especially if you abuse it.

you'll feel more of a power differnce because of the oil needing to be changed then after putting on the CAI. I don't know why these people are telling you to go with the short ran intake but aren't telling you why to go with it. CAI will give you more power unless you get a functional hood scoop in which that set up would be similar to a ram air set up.

as for the noise, if it's not throwing a code so thats good. also with that part, there are no moving parts so nothing should be rattling or poping. I would recommed that you change the oil, get a filter recharged kit (you will need one eventually) and look it over really good to see if anything is loose or and make sure all the hoses are tight so no air is sneaking in somewhere it's not supposed too. and see if anything is rubbing, it's a tight fit to get that in there. my intake filter hits part of the engine but doesn't make noise. If it moved it would make noise. look for stuff like that. troubleshooting is such a pain in the ass.

Your car shouldnt lag with the AEM CAI. It might definately be something else and I wouldnt go with a short car. CAI all the way.

I think they both lag at low end. I would get the oil changed and go with an SRI

Sounds like it could be your mass air flow sensor. CAI's probably have the abillity to damage those. Get it checked out at the dealer.
