I Scratched My Car, HELP!

Ok i was stupid, i was washing my car and used a towel to dry it, the car was really dirty. i soaked the car wet then started whipping it off and some of the sand on it scratched the paint. Is there anything to fix it like a rub in matching paint that i see on tv? I live in Canada so where do they sell it?

Another question how do u guys go about washing your cars at home?

Well i'm pretty sure that we have 2 coats of clear on our cars.. SO i'm sure you can get it buffed out at a local car cleaning place!

first try washing it properly followed by the meguire's 3 step process. If you have questions about this check out the detailing forum. If that doesn't work to your liking go get it buffed out at an auto place.

Might want to look into the Meguiars Scratch X stuff. Depending on how bad it is.

The Meguire's 3-step system takes out scratches? I just used it last night - only took like 4 hours - and I thought I noticed the paint was a lot smoother. Wow, good to know. Although my arms are still sore. Worth it though!!

And yeah, I saw some Scratch-X stuff over at the auto-parts store, might wanna give that a try.

If you finger nail catches the scratch then it is too deep to use ScratchX or any other product, but you can reduce the scratch with scratchX.
If you want to take out the scratch completely you would have to do color sanding and then use a rotary buffer to take out the sanding marks. It is also possible to just buff out the scratch depeneding on how deep it is using the right product and a high speed rotary buffer.
If the scratch is pretty deep and you don't want to take it to a shop then you could use touch up paint to reduce the visibility of the scratch. If you want to use touch up paint I recomend you to use this http://www.autovisuals.com/ and order an autosharp pen with your paint code. These pens are nice since you have more control.

Washing the car can be a simple or as technical as you want the more technical the better your ride will look and longer the paint will last...my washes usually take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours....first what i do to avoid swirls you wash the car from the top down starting with the trunk then the roof then the hood and wash those up to down...then the side panels left to right...i use a mit for the top part and a mit for the bottom parts then i have the Absorber to dry it then i wax the car appling the wax the same as i washed it and buffing it the same as well but the Mequiars 3 step method is the best way to go but i takes a LONG time first the paint cleaner ten the polish and then waxing it using a microfiber towel to buff it and then its looks good then to keep that look up i wax it once a week..but im very particular plus i have a Rallye Red so its gotta look spotless at all times!!!

Just get some rubbing compound. Thats what I use everytime somebody decides to give me a new paint job with their door. Just follow the directions.
