As for the whole weight thing, how much you think those brackets weigh, like 50 lbs or something? Anyways, I'm just here defending body kits... If you want all go and no show, go buy a Toyota Starlet or something.

Would self tapping screws hold better than bolts or otherwise?

Can you open and close the trunk with it in the modified position or does it have to be stock to operate the opening and closing and just swiveled when u want to show it off?

If anyone can PM me with any tips from when they did theirs I would appreciate it

BTW, doesn't your precious SRT-4 come with a "customized" hood. Pot calling the kettle black. You want a sleeper, take off your hood, wing, wheels, and put on the crappy neon parts, otherwise bite my ass.

hey. i'm looking for pics of the hardware that's needed, and closeups of completed jobs. NOT the ones that show the whole car, just the area where the adjustments are made.

Here's how I see it: (please keep in mind that I'm an all go no show kinda guy...sleepers are my thing) you are adding weight to the car in order to have your trunk open differently.

I guess this is a "visual mod" and falls under the "to each his own" category, but I think this should be grouped with "lambo" doors and those funky hoods that open from the side or the center...

this is about as rice as it gets...do you have tezzas and a widebody and spinners too?

It is items like these that make people have comments "leave that shit to the Honda guys." I personally respect the potential of many of the Honda engines, but people with this kind of crap on their cars are the reason everyone thinks of Civic drivers as a bunch of rich white-boy Fast and Furious wannabee ricers who can't park, use the emergency lane to pass, and streetrace during rush-hour traffic without using turn signals.

If you are going for this image please debadge your car so that I do not have to be associated with you.

Say no to rice ...anything that is about image and not performance...body kits, "cut" springs, spinners, funky hoods doors and trunks, altezzas, decals, windshield banners, etc. etc. etc.

After seeing what ebay was selling those trunk kits for (20-60), you could go in the buy/sell forum and get yourself a nice sway bar.

now that's a worthy investment...make the 7th gen handle like its on glued rails

PS...my opinions are my opinions and I respect your right to disagree...but I still think this trunk thing is rice
I dont know where to start with that bs but first of all body kits arent just for looks i do agree they look tight as heLL but they also put more downforce, make it more aerodynamic and generally weigh less. how do lambo doors make your car slower. their not new doors they just have different hinges. and you can get carbon fiber hoods with scoops= more air flow and less weight not to mention a sway bar doesnt do near as much as new wheels (spinners perhaps) with wider treads. now how bout you go drive that SRT 4 of yours into a big THICK BRICK WALL and leave us showcars alone...did you call us rich white boys? cuz the way i see it you got four cars buddy HIPOCRIT!!!

Wow this thread is still alive. Ok well 7thgenerasiancivic did my trunk for me so PM him for more Q's, but I'll try to answer whats here. The way my trunk is setup right now is basically like stock. I put the 2 bolts back in to connect the trunk lid to the arms that come down so it will close like normal. You can't close the trunk lid without these I don't think, but I wish you could. So whenever I wanna show off my trunk I have to get my ratchet and undo the 2 bolts connected to my trunk. As a daily driver I would want these on anyway b/c what if my trunk opens for some reason? Then its just the 2 tiny screws on each side of the hinges thats holding my trunk together. In another DIY I saw that you could put some kind of door latch lock thingy on your trunk, but I don't wanna do that...

Ya know we have a lot of very talented people on this website, why not get someone to fabricate an actual bracket instead of using strap hinges. You could make it look clean and not change the height of your trunk(being as a piece of the strap hinge goes over the stock bars. Also you could integrate a spring loaded closing pin into the bracket base with a pull handle to make it self locking. I know that they have self locking hoodpins along the same lines. Why not make something like that for this kit. Sell it for 30 bucks and make some money. Its a pretty cheap setup and could be done very nicely for not a large investment. Just an idea.
