Primary hood latch stuck open!!!

Hey guys need some help on this one its trippin me out lol... so my friends hood wont close... u can push down as hard as u want and it aint goin no where... upon closer inspection i can see that the primary latch is stuck open. the secondary will catch the hood but the primary stays in place. here is where i get frustrated.. if u open the secondary while the hood is down the primary latch will start to close but as soon as that secondary trys to catch again the primary opens.... any ideas??? i rele wana fix this like asap for her cause its not safe her driving like that.

most likely is all the gunk built up on the latch. just spray some wd40 and wipe down the dirt.

well i sprayed the fuck out of it with some lube... should i pull the latch out and like clean the fuck out of it?

Couldn't hurt...usually there is some room for adjustment also. It may just be out of alignment and cannot close properly.

i ran into that problem about 2 months ago. i did everything i could, until i just got fed up and took the spring out. goes down just fine now, but it take two people to open the hood. 1 to pull the lever and 1 to lift up on the hood. ive been meaning to replace it but i keep putting it off. lol

I had the same problem a few months back.....You could slam it as hard as you wanted and it still wouldnt shut. I just ordered a new latch off ebay and got a guy to weld it on....I got really fed up...It is working fine now...

I had a similar situation. It turned out that my latch was just bent up. I pried it back into place, and it's been all good since then.

I'm having the same issue too. Everything was fine until I switched my headlights. Right after I shut the hood and it wouldn't stay down...So I took out the latch WD'd it and cleaned it nice and now it can close but if I lift it up a little, the hood will come out of the primary lock...
