this is more of a dvd player problem than it is a civic problem but...

since its being installed in a 93 civic maybe you can help me! i recently bought the Pyle PLD3MU 3" In-Dash DVD Receiver w/ Monitor, you can learn about it here.

http://pyleaudio.com/itemdetail.asp?...s&model=PLD3MU

and heres a link to the online manual.

http://pyleaudio.com/manuals/PLD3MU.pdf

when i put a dvd into the dvd player it says, "warning: for your saftey dont watch while driving"... so i sent pyle audio an email asking them why it says that. and they sent me an email back saying, "This unit was not designed to be used while the car is in motion. Your parking brake must be in the engaged position in order to view the monitor. The brake wire must be hooked up to the parking brake wire or grounded in order for this function to work properly."

now my question is this, shouldnt there be a way to make the dvd player "think" my e-brake is on? i tryed hooking up a toggle switch to the brake wire on the dvd player, and it still says i cant watch dvds!!!
and im out of ideas, so if anyone can help me i'd appreciate it

-thanks in advance

how do i ground it tho? just hook the e-brake wire up to a piece of metal? or hook up a toggle switch with only the e-brake wire and a ground wire?

What was the toggle switch connected to when you first tried this?

i had it installed to the power wire from the dvd player, and grounded out to a screw in the middle console. with the e-brake wire from the dvd player hooked to the "accessory" prong on the toggle switch... even when i un hooked the power wire from the toggle switch, it would still turn the toggle switch on...
