Dash Lights: Cruise Ctrl, Pwr Mirror & Moonroof switches

I know a few members were inquiring on changing the color on the switches for the moonroof, cruise control & Power mirrors...so this weekend I was able to remove the panel and the switches & discovered that it is an orange LED. No filters. I am now so disappointed..

I thought this may help those of you who were interested.

You could probably go to Radio Shack and ask them if they have replacement bulbs. I'm sure they would have them.

I'm sure they do...but I don't feel comfortable messing with that...considering I'm a girl.

i've got an 2k1 LX, so i don't know about the sunroof switch, but the cruise and mirror switches are illuminated by small (LED-size) BULBS. they have those "condom" things on them (mine were blue, coupes should be orange) which you can peel off with tweezers or a knife. i made mine red; i took a red translucent plastic folder and cut some small pieces out to fit inside the switch... worked perfectly in mine. good luck!

btw, the only LEDs on the dash are the on/off indicators for the AC, defrost, and recirculate switches; the driver's window switch; and the red and orange indicators in the gauge cluster (seat belt, brake, etc.) everything else uses a bulb.

I've already changed the center lights surrounding the hu to blue w/ transparent blue sheets. However, the switches to the left don't have white bulbs...they're orange. I tried putting the blue sheet it in anyway and all it did was dim it.

are you 100% SURE its an orange bulb? i can't see why they would use an orange bulb in the coupe vs. a white bulb with a colored condom in the sedan... i would think that they use the same bulbs, just different condoms. just take it out and try peeling around the base of the bulb... the condoms fit pretty snugly...

lol.. i said "condom" 3 times... are we still talking about cars?!

LOL...back to the bulbs. I'm 100+% positive. I took all three switches apart, plus I put a blue sheet in there to see what it would look like and it just dimmed it. Makes me mad the sedan has the blue.

i took it apart as well and was sad to see it was an ornage bulb and not a filter. Actually it could be a bulb "covered" with an orange cover. Even so, the moonroof button i cant get apart to a point where i could put a colored paper in. U can unscrew the bulb but i cant get the face off to see if i could fit paper. The other 2 buttons i can possibly see where u could fit paper. Im gonna take the bulb to R-Shack and see whats up but these r some helluva small bulbs. Alrdy broke one $hit!!

is it a bulb with a cover on it? if it has a cover then the bulb is VERY small cause the cover makes most of the bulb lol

is it a bulb or an led?
led have dual package...hence you get one or the other or both...
go find some led manufacturers and ask for a dozen samples of whatever color leds they have...they usually have...blue, orange, red, green, yellow, white...i think thats it...

Somebody take one to Radio shack. Figure out what size LED. It is.

Does anyone know about the gauge cluster ones. Are they bulbs or LED's?

I have black and red interior, and the f*cking orange $hit everywhere is disgusting.

I have no idea about the guages. I bought apc speedglos.

Back to the switches...I took all three apart including the moonroof switch and they all have orange bulbs but no filter. However, if we could get a white bulb at least there would be a way to fit a filter. I'm not sure whether or not they're led's.
