Weird sound when accelerating uphill.

My car makes a weird vibration/sound when I press on the pedal but only when I'm going uphill, and particularly when I'm making a right turn, but not a left. It's coming from the driver side engine bay. It sounds like a rattle and I can feel it in the pedal. The pedal vibrates every 1/3 second in relation to the sound.

Could it have something to do with the CV joints? Both of mine are bad. Other than that, any ideas?

Maybe. I just did a 90 mile trip, and in 5th gear I hear it the most because it's the quietest gear. If I'm cruising, then I press the pedal some more at which point the engine has to catch up to the new pedal setting, I will hear it. I also hear it at idle. I can't locate the exact place of the sound though, but around the engine if not the engine itself.

I want to get one of those mechanic stethascopes. Does anyone know what the official name is?

Re: Weird sound when accelerating uphill.

i highly doubt its engine knock.. it would be really loud and it wouldnt really matter if your making a turn or not. if the noise comes on and off with the pedal without making turns or anything then its bad news.

Re: Weird sound when accelerating uphill.

Nah, can't be engine knock. Engine runs great. I do +200 miles every weekend from school/home and the engine feels nice. If it were engine knock, you would think it would be at least random, if no consistant. But with my current issue, it always does it at specific times. It's like something is loose... or hitting something. I will check it out today maybe. I swear... there's always something to fix.
