How do I clean aluminum?

I just got a throttle body that looks to have low miles on it, but the outside was left to sit in the rain for some time, and the aluminum has developed some sort of light black powedery corrosion that I can't remove. Can I make some sort of simple solution?

That black stuff is probably oxidation. To clean it you need some oven cleaner!

Just hose the mofo down and wait for it to bubble, then with a wire brush scrub it down then rinse with water. Make sure you get all the cleaner off and you are good.

Now if you want to polish it just use a powerball and mothers mag and aluminum compound.

Its oxidization. Get mothers mag and aluminum polish and use a soft dremel tip to apply it and polish it up. Its like magic.

Re: How do I clean aluminum?

I have no idea how you got in the corners to polish, because I bought a dremmel polish set from wal-mart, and I still can't get in there. What's the secret?

Re: How do I clean aluminum?

Any polish at the locl stores wont yield professional results. Order custom english polish off the net. It is about 15 a bottle. Here is what my celica TB looks like afterwards.
