Cracked Manifold, Need Help

i took my carf in for an oil change and was told i have a crack in my exhaust manifold. he said its not a pressing problem but will become one later down the road and they want nearly 1000 bucks to replace it. i know 90 percent of this is hondas screw the customer price mark up so does anyone know where i can buy an exhaust manifold for an 02 civic lx coupe, or if i have any other options, such as buying stainless headers or something??

Use the forums. I picked one up for 60 bucks shipped. Just threw it on 2 weekends ago and the car runs great.

$1000 bucks sounds about right because the cat is built into that header I believe you can get a stock replacement for around $300 or you can try to upgrade it which if you search will be even cheaper

Theres an 8 year warranty on the exhaust manifold / catalytic converter on the LX civic. You might be in luck if you bring that up.

Re: Cracked Manifold, Need Help

Check out my exhaust FAQ in my sig, it lays it all out if your looking to swap it over. Buying used is the cheapest alternative, just get a low mileage part. Or if you swap to an EX exhaust, you can pick up the random technologies downpipe with high flow car for pretty cheap.

Re: Cracked Manifold, Need Help

There really isnt much market for an aftermarket header with a cat in it... most of them just yank the cat out. There was a comany coming out with a dx/lx header in the past month for our cars, the name just slipped my mind. I'm not sure if it had a cat, I am thinking it did.

Re: Cracked Manifold, Need Help

He should probably replace it. I didn't think my crack was to bad because I wasn't throwing a CEL. I pulled it off and there was a crack all the way around the 4th pipe.
