i didnt see this thread indicating a specific generation so...
ill add to this thread with the 8th Generation DX/LX/EX models.
On models 06-07' there is no header to mount onto the cylinder head,
instead they have changed this design using an integrated exhaust manifold.
So, this is a single 2.5" pipe with the 2-bed CAT (Closed couple catalytic converter) as part of it. You cannot remove the CAT material but other alternatives would be to purchase the WeaponR downpipe which in this case removes the CAT all together and uses a defouler to trick the CEL.
Midpipe
This is the section of piping that connects the exhaust to the CAT,
Megan Racing has a mandrel bent section to improve flow. This is bolted
to exhaust manifold with x2 springs/bolts.

thank you so much triz i have check engine light becuase i have a EX Exhaust on my LX and the 02 Sens dosent reach i was going crazy looking for that 02 sensor adapter <333 Triz Itstriz bitches.
Boxcar- haha, no problem- thats why I made this faq!
Frankie- I tryed to strech mine, but it was just a tad too short, and I thought it would break eventually. Maybe you'rs were more sreached out due to more exposure from heat.
Clint- you could splice in wire- I'll add that. I wanted to stay away from that just to take a cleaner approach to the swap, and not have to worry about if my wires were holding together, and water attacking them, or connectors melting and stuff like that. Do you have any better pictures of the double walled downtube, and are the diam numbers I posted correct?
I'll update this faq to include all the points discussed after the first post. I'll also try and take some pictures of how the extender cables and how I kept them from getting burnt.
Can't you just lengthen the O2 sensor wires by splicing in a longer piece (well, four of them) of wire?
at school i was taught to not do that....reason being...the 02 sens has a specific voltage any resistance can change it and trigger a CEL....i think thats what i learned lol
Easiest way to do this, like Triz said, is buy an EX header and catback exhaust.
Then go to Summit Racing and buy 2-1/4" inlet/outlet Magnaflow hi-flow cat. It's a real cat (not a test pipe), is OBD-2A compliant and costs $70. While you're there, buy a 4' length of 2-1/4" pipe ($10-12) and a 2-1/4" formed flange for $5 (P/N: WLK-31885) .
We're at $85 plus shipping right now.
Then head over to Mandrel Bending Solutions Ebay store (Click this), buy these items:
1 piece of 2-1/4" U-bend pipe - $12
1 three-bolt 2-14" flange - $4.25
1 two-bolt and 1 three-bolt gasket - $6 ($3/each)
1 oxygen sensor bung for your post cat sensor -$4
1 L-shaped hanger - $1.76
That's $33 plus shipping from Mandrel Bend Solutions. The whole new, truly 2-1/4" downpipe and real high-flow cat has just cost you $120 plus shipping for the parts. You will reuse those spring bolts already on your car.
Now take your new EX header, catback system, and box of exhaust parts to the nearest non-chain muffler shop. Point to the box of parts and the car and say, "I want all this stuff on my car, and I want all the stuff that's currently on my car put in these boxes. I'll be back in two hours, here's $150."
Go stuff some food down your gullet, have a beer, and then come back to your brand new, tits sounding exhaust.
I'll get your pics in a second Triz. I'm pissed off at the car and don't feel like going outside right now.

There's a good chance that I'm not going to answer your PM.
This a shot of the stock exit flange on the EX catalytic converter. The inner diameter of the flange is 47mm, aka 1.85".
Here are two shots of the Honda padded bra. The first shot is looking down the inlet, where the two bolt flange was that mates up to the header (I cut mine off). This starts at 53mm ID,aka 2.08", and then quickly tapers down to the doublewalled soda straw pipe you see in the second shot. The ID of that second pipe is 43mm, aka 1.70".
Pretty restrictive. Bottom line is that unless you get rid of the stock EX downpipe, your 2-1/4" catback exhaust isn't going to do jack for you. Buying the parts and having them welded up, while it may not be cheaper, will definitely eliminate the stock soda straw exhaust restriction.

^ well its only restrive to a massive exhaust pushing turbo'd D series mean boostin man like yaself. Well, we both know that statement isnt total correct. I'd love to be able to dyno test all these parts myself and find the optimal size, but thats not going to happen due to money. I saw some homemade dyno videos at one point where the guy was dyno'ing his car in the garage- I've been looking for a place to purchase that, or at least a price list. I can only find the industrial type dynos where you have to construct your garage around an underground pit, or the above ground ones that are at least 4,000 bucks not including the above ground platform needed to actually use it.
It starts off with an internal diameter (ID) of 2.00" and tapers down to 1.70" and finishes with an exit ID of 1.85". Will add. I believe the currecy you suggested was high fives right (thats what your sig said yesterday)- *high-five!*
LOL - you can get those sig things at factorizer.co.uk. The message changes every 60 seconds. My favorites so far are "speedfoos only needs one chopstick" and "speedfoos was caught ridin' dirty"!
Glad I could help out!
