I have a 1998 LX and I was looking to put an OBX header, cat, and cat back on her
If I read all this right I apparently will have to weld the cat to the OBX header
If I'm going to do this, which OBX cat should I buy?
OBX offers two
One uses the factory o2 sensor position and one doesn't
I'm assuming the cheaper one, the one that uses the factory o2 spot, is the one I need but I'm just checking
(I'm also assuming at 45 bucks that it is a test pipe and not a cat, but whatev. I don't live in California, so I think if I at least have the ILLUSION of a cat, I should be good)

hey triz will this work ex header, ex downpipe and evo2 exhaust system? Do I still need catalytic converter? And I was also wondering how much hp and tq it put out with that kind of set up?

Your going to want a cat, without it you'll smell your exhaust whenever you have your windows open... it gets really annoying actually, and your exhaust is much louder then you'll want it- you'll turn the wrong heads, and its illegal to run without one, so you'll have to figure something out when it comes to emissions times.
I dont trust ebay listings. There are two types of cat's- ones that are universal and need to be welded in, and others that are already in the pipe that will bolt up to your system. The later is easier, but if you got pipe skills and got a welder then either one is a good pick if you think you can do quality work.
I'm not famil with the 6th gens, let me get that out there now. The concepts are the same:
If you want to do a head back exhaust then order an ex header, and ex downpipe, and an ex catback. If you want to do an ex cat back then you'll need to have an ex header and down pipe. if you just want a muffler, then just pick up an axle back muffler and bolt it on, or have it welded, depending on the muffler- pick up the kind that bolt on instead of the kind you have to weld one- its just easier and you can convert back to stock without re welding.
The issue of the O2 sensors... stick with the LX ones and just buy extention cables, links are in the first post. If you pick up the EX ones, you'll have to cut the connectors and solder them together because you cant join too females or two males with eachother.
Hope that helps. *crosses fingers this only posts once the first time*
Woah really LOL. Nah seriously I was just wondering.
In reality probably 1 to 3 hp. Pretty impressive hunh. No bolt-on is gonna give you any significant power increase on your civic. Try just driving like a tool every now and then and pretend it's fast, that's what I do.

Yeah, I most certainly don't have pipe skills, let alone many car skills.
I appreciate the help
OK, so I want to do a header back. So you say I should get an EX head, EX downpipe and EX catback. By that I'm assuming you mean OEM EX head, downpipe and catback. That sounds good, but would getting the OBX header, some kind of cat that I can have a muffler shop weld to it and the OBX catback work as well?
Would the OBX head/cat line up with the rest of the exhaust nicely I guess is my main concern

It looks like both the OBX cats are the bolt-in type
So I put the OBX head on, bolt the cat to it, get the o2 sensor extenders (they'res an o2 sensor before and after the cat, correct me if I'm wrong) and then figure something out to piece between the cat and the cat back and I'm golden....right?

You keep saying "ex head" Your ex head and lx head and dx head all have the same bolt pattern, so you dont need to change the head to change the manifold that bolts to it. I think your also getting the parts mixed up a little- you cant weld a cat onto a header... well, I guess you could, but that would just be stupid and it would probably be an inch from the pavement so you couldnt run a cat back. Here is how the parts go:
Engine Head> header (exhaust manifold)> Downpipe with cat converter in it (this is one piece of pipe with flanges on either side and the cat in the center [if you cant get a hold of an OEM downpipe with cat, get the Random Tech pipe, OR get a test pipe and a universal weld-in cat], then your cat back exhaust system.
