Help on a problem please, damp spots...

I just discovered 2 patches on the drivers side that are really damp. One is beside ( touching) the hatch/gas door release and the other is in the middle of the carpet. Also, near the top of the carpet on the passengers side to the left is a little damp too. It did not rain, the liquid does not have smell though. Does anyone know what it is?

Is the water coming form under the car? because when i put a floor mat over it, the top of the floor mat was not wet. just the 2 patches on the drivers side and the big patch on the passengers side at the top.

Re: Help on a problem please, damp spots...

where is the heater core?

The spot it is mainly wet is along the trim above the hatch/gas release. It just gets more damp even when it is not running. Hopefully I can find out what is wrong with it tomorrow when i take out the carpet thing.

Re: Help on a problem please, damp spots...

heater core is centralized under the dash and behind the console!
real hard to get at and a pain in the ***!
i may be wrong but its still my guess!

Re: Help on a problem please, damp spots...

but that is most likely my problem? because the damp carpet runs from hatch release and up form the trim and on the passengers side it is at the very top and is at the left near the middle piece of the car.

If that is my problem how long does it take for a mechanic to fix it and do they normally have that part in the shop or do they generally have to order?

Re: Help on a problem please, damp spots...

drop some stop leak in the rad for now (which i do not suggest),
or yea...have it fixed.

Shouldnt take more than a few hours to do it.
make sure you didnt do one of the following first:

A. Piss yourself
B. Hole in floorboard(s)
C. Pull the carpet back on both sides of the car right at the console, pull it right back and do a check around there and up in around the center area of the dash/console.
Anti-freeze is sticky to the touch and has a sweet odor/

Re: Help on a problem please, damp spots...

ok thanks, i have a quick question though. isn't the heater core in the passengers side? my leak is on the drivers side, so would it be a hose or something opposed to the core? or there is no way foryou to tell me?

btw the damp area does not smell sweet or feel sticky, it is like odorless.
