Re: DIY: Change the color of your door panels with suede!!

Dex- You dont have to remove the handle.

The OEM fabric is thick enough that two layers of microsuede is still thinner then the OEM stuff. Just rip the OEM stuff out, and use a razor blade to tuck the fabric under neath and spot glue it once inside the handle. booyah.

Re: DIY: Change the color of your door panels with suede!!

I started my suede project last night. Havent tried door panels yet but i did my passenger side a-pillar and am going to do drivers side today. Then next week do b and c pillars. Hopefully i'll be pickin up an rsx leather interior and puttin that in too and by then my interior will be so sweet. O and i gotta repaint my accents. Rite now they're krylon fusion silver metallic and im painting them ssm. Its gonna be sick.

Whatever you want man, fabric doesnt really matter as long as you can get it to stick, which shouldnt be too hard.

Re: DIY: Change the color of your door panels with suede!!

It's not suede, it's a fake material called microsuede. Joanne's wouldn't have real suede, you'd have to buy the whole hide for that. When you go to Joanne's (if they speak English), ask for something close to microsuede or sable suede. But anything will work, I've seen Louis Vuitton patterns and a whole bunch of cool fabrics used. Use whatever you want.

Re: DIY: Change the color of your door panels with suede!!

3m Super 77 (walmart multi-purpose has a purple cap)

cost me about 12 bucks though.. fuck my life

its really nice cause its not like superglue where you press it once and its super hold. its a tacky hold which is awesome for this.

take the fabric outside or something and lay it on some cardboard. Spray the fabric as you see fit. more spray more hold, more spray more chance of bleed through. apply.

nice thing is its tacky which means you can lay it, relay it.. relay it and it will still have the same hold. and you tuck the fabric into the groove in the plastic so the adhesive doesn't have to be real strong. just has to last!
