even if they did make a supercharger for the d17, for about $3500 - $4000 you can build yourself a nice turbo kit with more power. Let the supercharger inquiries rest. That poor dead horse can't take it anymore.
As for the manifold, it would deffinitly be worth modifying gsr or d16y8 manifold for a boosterd application.
It would be a lot to do the GSR job. You definitely have some serious cutting and hacking to do, re-welding, machining etc....
The one that got done was a DIY job, which is beyond the skill and resources of most people without a really well stocked shop at their disposal.
by the time you're done, have an IM custom made thats of a similar style to the GSR one and call it a day.
i have a gsr mani that i am fabbing up to fit a d17a2 head. you need to cut about 1.5" off the intake runners including the stock flange/injector plate from the mani and weld in the injector plate form the d17. you also have to make sure you angle the injector plate correctly to ensure fitment of the manifold. you will also need to cut off the mounting plate for the throttle body and weld on a adaptor plate. its not really hard to do but unless you have the right tools it can be a real PITA trying to get everything straight
Again- SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO A FULL DIY ON THE INTAKE INSTALL. for the d16y8 manifold and/or gsr intake. there are so many questions that are either difficult to find or not asked.
on a scale of 1-10 i'd say a 12. Thats without getting in there and doing it. people with experience welding, cutting, fitting piping together etc should have no issues. this is not a job for the weekend diy with a 24 piece socket set.
A lot of people here that had a D17 turbocharged are using a D16Y8 (96-00 civic EX) intake manifold. Search it. Its possible...
Also with this manifold you can use other parts, like: GSR throttle body, D16 fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator (need a return line), injectors...
I wouldnt say a lot of people have d16 intake mani on their d17, but I've seen few. Yes, some labour involved into putting this in, maily due to throttle body relocation. But its nothing compare to installing GRS intake on d.
anyone got a DIY on gettin the 96-00 EX IM to fit?
