hey boosted how do you have your apex set up. In myne, I don't know, I just have 5% in narrow and wide throttle and that's it. Vtec wire is not hooked up to the vafc cause it activates engine ck light when I pass 6000 a couple of times. What do you recomend (wide, narrow, vtec cont, vtec un, throtte point, Ne, sensor type, etc...)
Alright, I just went and got it set, but few last questions, under narrow and wide throttle settings you can pick lvt or hvt(one of them has a dotted line) I set it narrow and wide but using HVT. And as I understood, narrow setting in HVT, 4000/5% then 5000/8%, 6000/10%, 7000/12%
wide setting in HVT, 4000/8% then 5000/10%, ----------> 7000/20%
Is this what you mean! because again you have the option of picking two different setting!
Also, you said:
VTEC cont:
L to H should be 4000 RPM
H to L should be at aroung 5200 RPM
It wouldn't let me set a higher setting in H to L, than L to H. For ex. If I set L to H to 4000, then It wouldn,t let me set more than 3900 in H to L. I might be doing something wrong!!!!
the dotted line is when the VTEC kicks in.... Fuel Settings to the left of the dotted line for Hi Cam, right side of the
dotted line for low cam will have no effect on the fuel correction. So basically if I understand this... and according to Johnny then this is it right here... LVT should be less than HVT because of the RPM difference... More RPM will use more Fuel effectivly. At LVT if you use the same setting as HVT then you are gonna waste fuel.... Since the setting are very flexible, I was told to play with them untill, it felt right. I was also told that I would be able to tell when I have it set to high, for the fact I would notice a decrease from the previous setting...
To start out use this....
Wide= @ 7000 rpm should be 20% ; start at 4000 rpm @ 5%
Narrow= I do not do nothing with my narrow on mine just on wide.
The V-AFC will then know what to do.... The dotted line just shows when the Vtec is going active
option 6 and 7 you do not use.
6. Ne-P:Hvt
7. Ne-P:Lvt
I got everything hooked up. I'll see how it runs after I get off work!
The only thing is the pressure flap, I didn't see anything that says pressure flap there, but I imagine that (when you go to sensor type you just see 6 in 6 out) it means 6 in 6 out = pressure flap.
Thanks for the advise "boosted".
By the way, how much should I pay for that blitz power meter thing?
the blitz thing I duno, but check on ebay for one... you should also look into a Gtec pro, same type of product, it ranges from 60-80... remember, these things only work if you know how much ur car weight, I guess an estimate from the stock weight would do.
apexi also has a new thing out thats like the blitz and gtec, it definitely looks better (more graphics and stuff, like its afc controllers) but its also a lot more expensive...
I'm gonna grab a gtec myself one day, not sure when though... people say its fairly accurate, though I'm not sure if its worth its price, u wont exactly use it that much, u know?
btw good job boosted on helping the peeps out... its rare on this site. *snicker*
and also, we dont have i-vtec, whoever posted that.
I am posting this message, because I said that as soon as I got the apex vafc running, I was going to let you all know!. Installation is very easy (thanks to Boosted). The settings are kind of tricky, you got to become familiar with the VAFC. So far, I feel the difference in power (of course if you have some mods, you will feel more), a good difference. There is just one thing!, so far, I have the vtec connection just like it was when it came from the factory, I'm not using the vtec controler, just the fuel controler. I am allowed to change fuel settings, but if I hook up vtec connection, and I use the vtec controler, I will get a check engine light after a while! And I think the problem might be in the vtec unmatch fuel correction setting. This setting corrects fuel, for ex:.
Hi<<L - This is when the VAFC turns the VTEC hi (on) but the ECU set the VTEC Lo
(the enine will actually be set to the high cam)
Lo<<H - Vice-versa
If this setting is not properly set, the ECU might be thinking and doing something different than the VAFC.
One day I will know, and I'll let you all know, so far, just with fuel, my car is flying!!!
Doesn't Apex tell you how to set it up to work properly? All that computer stuff has to work together. Is it up to the customer to figure that out? Just wondering.
Apex does not tell you anything, because they have people that paid to go to their school to
learn how to work and prog. these things. Therefore unless you trick them, they will not tell
you anything. The bad thing about this is that there are not that many shops around that are tunner certified.
This makes it very difficult to configure. Unless you know how the car works and what does what.
That's right, what we can do if to gather all this info and share it. What I think is that we might be able to find a standard setting for our cars and specific models (w/ vtec or without vtec).
Man! there is got to be somebody with an EX that has the VAFC perfectly tuned up!

If you find someone with an EX and a tuned AFC, let me know. I'm thinking about buying this, but don't want to spend that kind of money until I know it will make a difference. All I have so far is AEM CAI and DC Sports TCS exhaust.
Boosted Rule! You're so talented man do you own a shop or something? Im planning to get V-AFC I live here in cali and I went to these shop called XS Engineering! Thats the only authorized dealer of Apex where I live! They said that V-AFC wont work on a new civic! that's why they recommend me not to purchase it.
