haha yeah serriously or avoid the cop. btw i got a speeding ticket going 90 on the 710 im shocked i was like there is no way i was going 90 i told the officer that i saw my speedo say 75 and when i notice his lights on me i was going between 75 and 80 so i was kinda like wtf

damn, that sux dude i was going home on the 710 too tonight, and a cop was following me. i put on my cruise control to 65. after a couple min of tailing me, he sped off and i gave him the finger

What brand and model do you recommend? I read that the radar detectors will soon be obsolete in terms of usability, because now the cops are tracking our speed with lasers and such.

they can still detect laser, but its just lot more difficult.
There upgrading but it'll still take time before there fully upgraded. A lot of the motorcycle cops still use the older k-band radar guns. The laser units are lot more expensive then the radar guns and don't operate as well in bad weather like thick fog...IE light particles being reflected by the water vapor.
The best ones is either the newest version of the valentine one or the new escort passport 9500i.
I like the 9500i because it has a gps location feature so you can download all known locations of camera lights and speed traps from the escort website into the detector and it'll warn you about potential speed traps coming up.
The valentine one has a slightly better range and tells you which direction the radar is coming from.
But these detectors are around $400.
I went with the escort 8500 x50...it has the same detecting radius as the 9500i but without the gps location feature and it sells for around $250.
I wouldn't go lower then the 8500...the rest out there suck.

On the topic of radar vs laser: I think I read somewhere that (like stated above) laser doesn't work in bad weather. I also read that laser also wouldn't be used from inside a cop car unless the pig is aiming through a rolled down window. Can someone verify this?
