it was a category 2 when it hit me in Winter park/Oviedo city line about 930pm friday. pretty crazy stuff. me and the family watched it from the backporch. 100mph winds and a BUNCH of trees and pool enclosures took the fall. pretty fortunate that out of 96 homes in the neighborhood, only one was actually struck by a tree. wow...and it was the guy's garage thank God. cleanup's a beeeootch but owell...lucky to be alive i guess........
as for power, yes i do/dont have it.story behind that lies in my neighbor behind our backyard and the proposition we confronted him with. my dad walked over and nicely noticed that they had power and proposed that we'd pay 1/2 their next power bill to borrow ONE solitary exterior outlet from then and run a LOOOONG menagerie of extention cords from the outlet thru the fence (1/2way knocked down) and running along the center of the backyard. into the porch and thru our bay window connected to a set of 2 computer power strips. into that we plugged in 1. the fridge to save from spoiling our perishables, 2. a radio so we could find out when the hell the power was coming back on, 3. this laptop via a 56k modem connection. other things we use, we unplug something else in its place and try to be careful...given that its a SOLITARY connection and we arent about to trip the neighbor's circuit breaker. lol..that would be no good.
sooo, that said, we are doing "okay" but its not life back to normal now. Charley owned us and i regret that i bad mouthed the storm now (jen, desiree, ivan, chris, and others can vouch for me...LoL).
peace guys/girls...its gonna be like another 2-3 days before we prolly see power. only 40% of our 'hood is without. Progress Energy is gonna have a while before they get to us due to their prioritizing method of restoring power. ugh...owell. going back to take a nap on the living room floor cuz thats where our FAN is...hehe.
lata all!

^That really does suck, luckily you made it through the Hurricane safe.
There was pretty much nothing going on when the hurricane "hit" us. I went to Outback, chilled with some friends, drank, played cards. We've had worse rain storms than what we got on Friday. In retrospect I feel REALLY lucky.
This is the first ever hurricane I have ever experienced, and hopefully the last. I am originally from Minnesota, and we dont have to deal with this. Disney closed at 1 on Friday, and I got to sit at home, went to Publix after work to see about 1,000 people there. It was nuts. The rain and the winds were pelting right against the windows and balcony of our apt, so hard the windows were leaking like crazy. We did not lose power, but it was nuts. We live on the 3rd floor, top of the building, so it started to leak out of 3 lights, and one of the sprinkler heads. After the storm passed, my roommate and I went out driving around looking for munchies, and found an open gas station. It was very eerie to drive around and see sections of town just pitch black. All in all here, I live off of I-Drive, it wasnt too bad. My roommate who has experienced hurricanes before, said this one wasnt that bad, at least by where we were.
well i live in ft.lauderdale and we didn't get anything here. my uncle lives in punta gorda so on saturday i went over there to salvage what was left of his house. the town is a total disaster area. i have never seen a town like that before, it was def. an experience. but man was the disaster there crazy, i saw u haul trucks that were lifted into stores. down the street from my uncles house there was a 25-30 ft. rv that had flipped onto its side. and those huge metal poles that are like 3 ft. thick were broke in half and twisted around a couple times, crazy stuff. good luck to all who lost anything in this hurricane, may god be with those who lost their lives.

Well, I live right over where it went, Dr. Phillips portion of Orlando. My neighborhood got F'ed up. About half the screen's over pools were torn down, Including my friends who's screen feel, then flew and took out a huh brick wall infront of our neighborhood. I'd say 3/4 of the trees are gon now, an my other friend has 2 bout 100 foot pines laying on the electrical wires. I dunno bout everyone else but this gives me new found repsect for hurricanes. I hope everyones doing well and you all are in my prayers.
I live Kissimmee about 10 mins OIA and we got f\/cked and we still are f\/cked. We still don't have power or phones in my area. I had to come to work to get on the internet and crap. I work at a highschool as a comp. tech. so there is nobody since school has been canceled until next week monday. I got so many holes in my roof its not even funny. My car got screwed but I already had my insurance look at it so now I get a whole new paint job!
It sucks leaving with no a/c and no hot water. I haven't slept much since its like 90 degrees in my house even at night with the fans running. We have a huge generator and we got 3 neighbors plugged into our generator, lol. What I hate the most is that the sewers are so full that water is actually coming out of the manholes and the drainage on the side of the street. So our neighborhood smells like shlt literally. None of the lights in my area are working so trying to cross an intersection is a f\/cking nightmare.
We also have curfew. The reason why is because we have people going around breaking into stores and houses. Lol, it feels like I'm living in an episode from the Simpsons. If I was going to rob anything it would be a bank since there is no power. KUA says we SHOULD have power by Saturday. God do I hate ice cold showers.
I feel you man I'm from K-Town also and this shit is crazy. Have you seen BVL, It is so trashed. I got lucky today man cause I got my light back, hopefally you will get your soon!
