Your car won't be an EX anymore at that point. Everyone is arguing over whether a D17 can take on the K20A3. It's obvious that a K20A2 or K20A can take the EP.
That also leads me to something else that's interesting. Alot of you are arguing based on numbers. Well let's see here. EX 127hp - Si 160hp - RSX Type S 200hp. Now, there's a 33hp difference between the EX and Si, and alot of you saying the Si can't hang with an EX. Well, there's only a 40hp difference between the Si and the RSX. So, can I say that an Si can hang with the Type S. Hell no. Obviously, that's a b.s. statement because so many other factors come into play.
If you put a stock EX and a stock Si in the same environment (altitude, weather conditions, etc), with equal drivers, and both cars are running properly, then the Si will win. It's as simple as that.

to me its obvious that a SI will beat a EX, thats one of the reasons theres a k20a2 in my engine bay right now. The SI has more torque alot more horse power, and it doesnt weigh enough more for weight to be a factor in the race. if the same guy raced both cars down the 1320 SI would win plain and simple
Plus mod for mod a k20 of any variant will own a d17. intake gains like 2 HP on a D17 and 15 HP on a k20.

Just curious: How much weight do you think you've packed on with the engine, tranny and seats compared to the D17?
Thanks.
If i'm 50 lbs less than a RSX-S at this point its alot. Only thing not in my car that the RSX-S has thats a major weight factor is the sound deadening.
I raced an 02 EX coupe on the street once. I was closer than I thought it would be , but I had not problem winning. We were dead even in first, and both caught a little wheel off the line. His EX chirped going into second and my SI barked. Then I just walked away. We only raced to about 65 b/c of traffic, but I was still pulling steadily away.
Seriously, a good driver is the best performance "mod" a car can get. I love it when I beat cars that I shouldn't. A kill is a kill, but you shouldn't hate on the SI. Go drive one. I think you'll like our steering wheel.
My girfriend has an 02 LX, there is no way that car will ever hang with my SI, unless it gets some FI. I do like the fact that it has a lower feeling factory ride though.
I don't understand why Honda does this... this is stupid if you ask me.
The Si has a power-weight ratio of 17.15 (2744lb and 160 HP), but a final drive of 4.765 to the EX 4.411 or the LX/DX 4.111.
Now what I find funny is that the RSX, with the same engine, has a different final drive at 4.389... and its 80 lbs lighter... so an RSX would beat an Si pretty good, and the Si final drive kills it. Every time they add HP to a civic, they slow it down with taller gears. I still think it can beat the other Civics, but that drive ratio is ungodly high. Maybe you guys with hatches should be swapping trannys... you'd go faster.
i have both been beat and beaten by rsxtc's rsx in my si the gear ratios don't reallyt make a difference its a drivers race, btw he has a base rsx
Alright here it goes,
I have a 2003 civic si. To tell me that a civic ex with i/h/e beat an si is funny to me. I have many friends with modded up cars and one of them is an ex with i/h/e with nitrous. When he runs without nos I kill him every time when he runs the nos he beats me by about 1/2 car length to a car length. So when he says he beat the new si I laugh. Now the issue with the old si and the new si. This is competition here. Alot of people have different views. I have raced a couple of 99 and 2000 si's. So far I have yet to meet an older si to beat me but it's been close. And I have raced them at the drags a couple of times. I haven't raced an si that is hooked up yet. These races with the old si's and the ex were without my mods. The torque on the new si is great a lot more kick then the old si. Believe me if you want, or don't but I know what I know.
ill challenge any ex civic in all of socal that isnt using boost. you will lose horribly. your pos 1.7 U.S. made honda engine is a joke and embarassment to the real hondas....its so funny you ricers think the ex is fast, its a low 17 second car, maybe high 16's but lol thats still slow as ish!

and your high - mid 15's are something to brag about? and why does it matter that the motor is made in america? its still designed by Honda. Your car is made in England, now thats JDM. lease:
Well in case your brain dead, my engine and transmission are made in Japan (not to mention the hoses, wiring, electronics/computer), not the US, bleh . And it's assembled in England--not made there.
Do me a favor and go to a Honda Dealership. Go look at the stickers of both your POS civic coupe and my hatch. The coupe will say engine: Marysville, Ohio. My hatch will say engine: Japan, transmission: Japan...those are the two most crucial parts and make the car what it is.
Here's another question does the civic coupe exist in Japan? No! Does my car exist in Japan? Yes, and it's even gutsier.
What kind of unorthodox engine size is a 1.7, wtf? That is a joke. It's an even bigger joke that people think they can be fast. I guess if you slide the decimal in 1.7 over to the right it you get 17, which stands for your quarter mile ah hahaha .
