The truth is - sometimes EX will beat SI, sometimes Si will beat EX( of course more often). But neither SI drivers or EX drivers should claim that they can beat the others everyfreaking time and all the way. Even you 02SilverSIHB with 15.5 1/4 time, some EX doing 15.7 -15.8(no nitrous no turbo), so to claim that you will beat that EX everyfreaking time is silly. where are these ex's hitting those times and with what mods??? Remember, different states, different cities, and different tracks gives a different 1/4 mile. When I say everytime, I damn well mean it. I've seen EX's hit nothing but high 16's here at RCR. I've asked some people with EX's to run me hear, but none will, one guy said he'd show up, but never did.

So yes, everytime, as long as he's not boosting or n20 of course, that's what I met.

I don't think many EX drivers have ever been in a new Si, nevermind drive one. I test drove both the EX and SI and there is simply no comparison. It is not a drivers race at all. I am a crappy driver and I still waste I/H/E EX's every single time. I probably got more hp increase from just my CAI then an EX gets from all three major bolt-ons.

I don't understand why Honda does this... this is stupid if you ask me.
The Si has a power-weight ratio of 17.15 (2744lb and 160 HP), but a final drive of 4.765 to the EX 4.411 or the LX/DX 4.111.
Now what I find funny is that the RSX, with the same engine, has a different final drive at 4.389... and its 80 lbs lighter... so an RSX would beat an Si pretty good, and the Si final drive kills it. Every time they add HP to a civic, they slow it down with taller gears. I still think it can beat the other Civics, but that drive ratio is ungodly high. Maybe you guys with hatches should be swapping trannys... you'd go faster.

ive seen new si's here in phoenix running low seventeens to mid sixteens, im sorry but they cant hang, ill blow em away out of the hole, and down the stretch, and with just bolt ons! Si does not mean fast as hell, si's are heavy, and have weak power to weight ratio, i hope someone does something with one, so then maybe ill have a challenge

Civic EX : 2554 pounds/127 hp
Equals: 20.11 pounds PER horsepower

Civic SI: 2774 pounds/160 hp
Equals: 17.21 pounds PER horsepower

Which car has the better horsepower to weight ratio now, huh?
Wanna retract that statement you made?

Don't even talk about mods, because the SI responds way better than the EX.

I wish I was stationed near phoenix, I'd love to show you a challange lease:

Wanna argue SI owners?!Have it your way . Here is my story...
I test drive 2002 SI and EX. Guess what , I bought EX. First reason, i did not feel much of a difference in power, but design - I think 2002 Si is the worst Honda's mistake in US market. Say what you want, but I tested 2000 Civic SI at the same time. 2000 si would smoke 2002 Si from the start all the way. Now Ex and 2002 Si is very similar. I do not say Si would not beat EX stock vs stock. Most likely. I put few mods in my car and raced two 2002 -2003 si in the city up to 60 miles. I did not go over 60 miles in the city cause I am not crazy.
I smoked them in my first 2 gears and begining of third. I saw frustrated faces of those guys and I understand them . First they bought an ugly minivan, and second - they lost to some Civic Ex.

Well, here is my story.

I went to the Honda dealership to look for a new car. Test drove the Civic EX and the SI. I ended up getting the SI. It came down to personal preference, I guess. I actually liked the way the SI looked. The car had personality to it unlike the EX which drove the exact same way as the LX and DX.

The very next week, I took it for a drive in the city and encountered a 2001 civic EX with I/H/E, short shifter, test pipe, etc. Tore him a new hole from a stop all the way to 60 mph. I shut down after that because I am not crazy for speed. When he passed me doing the typical ricer fly-by, the look on his face was priceless. Let me tell you what was on his mind:

1.) DAMN, I just got wasted by a mini-van
2.) DAMN, I could have bought that car for about the same price I paid for my EX
3.) DAMN, those recaro seats are NICE!
4.) DAMN, I spent all that money on mods for nothing. He wasted me STOCK!
5.) DAMN, those people on the forums who told me that I could smoke that were WRONG!

Finally, he managed to gather himself and I heard him mutter (to himself) at the next traffic light: "Well, at least my car isn't so ugly and so heavy."
With that, he floored it, only to have me catch up with him and tear him another new one.

BTW: This story is entirely fictional. I do not own a civic SI. This just goes to show you how much your "stories" actually mean to me.

i own a 2002 4dr civic LX, my cousin owns a 2002 civic SI and i tied him for about 3 long blocks, we started off on second gear and the whole way he never once took off on me. His car is butt stock, my 4dr has a AEM short ram and HKS Hi-Power exhaust... But considering my car is a 4dr with more weight he should have beat me....

WOW! some of you are full of shit. Any NA Civic EX, that hasn't gutted out about 500lbs of wieght from his car, I will beat. If someone thinks they can beat me, let me know, we'll go to the track....not the street, the ****ing track. Because I know that after I beat the living shit outta a LX,DX, or EX I'll hear some shit about, uh you went first and then they'll leave. Please!
