Witness in court for street racing case

I have mixed feelings of what happened today. Let me explain.

Sometime in Aug. while driving on the mass pike heading home, there were a group of 7 or so hooked up cars going to this dragway near my house. So im minding my own buisness, when this mustang comes out of the pack and cuts me off, almost causing me to run off the road. Now keep in mind, he is going about 100+. Yeah I was pissed like anyone would have been.
Then about 2 miles down the road, there was a cop waiting for everyone. He begins to follow, then speed up past everyone and he was gone. This whole time, I was thinking to my self, "please dont associate me with this crowd just cause i stick out, and fit in". Well it happened, at the exit of the NY and MA boarder (where i had to get off) there was a roadblock. The state troppers were pulling us all over, because someone called in the idiots for street racing. And of course I got pulled over as well. When the officer came up to me, he did the normal routine of license and reg. , and at the time I told him I dont know these idiots that were racing, and the mustang tried to run me off the road, I dont know them and I just want to go home. Well about 10 minutes sitting here, he let me go and kept the rest. After that I didnt think about it again.....Untill now.

About a week ago i get a call from the MA state police, they were asking me to come in and talk to the cop about what happened, because I guess the guy in the mustang was being charged with reckless driving and street racing. I agreeed to come in, and let him know my side of the story.
Well today was the date to go in. I stoped in there, talked to the statie, and it turns out I had to testify in court in front of a jury. I was not happy about this cause I knew he was going to be there, and I hate talking in front of people. But anyhow, I did it cause I was already there, and I dont agree with street racing.
So I get into the court room, standing next to 2 cops, then here comes in person accused of the crime. Now keep in mind, this is a wicked small court room, and I was standing shoulder to shoulder to him. Talk about a bad feeling. So I told the judge my story, and so did the cops.
It turns out that they did track him on radar going 93 at one point, but my story was just fuel for the fire. He tried some chessey story saying that he couldnt go over 70 cause he had a bad tranny....well that was a lie cause I saw him going waaaay faster then 70. But in the end, it turns out that he lost his license for 1 year, and a 200 dollar fine., what even sucks more is, his license is also for his job, and now he is going to loose his job.

I feel that I did the right thing in this case. I mean he could have killed somebody if he kept it up. He is looked like he was about my age, but wicked immarture, so I may haver prevented something more dangerous in the future.
But on the other hand, i feel bad cause he lost his job and his license for a year, and I may have been the nail in the coffen for the judge.

What does everyone think about this?

I think u did the right thing. I mean if it was a person who could have killed you or someone in your family, doesn't it seem right for them to get the punishment they deserve? sure he lost his job, but it was his choice to race down the highway. Don't lose any sleep over it bro. we are all glad that u weren't associated!

Serves him right.. not your fault he was dumb enough to risk losing his license. Sounds harsh, but everyone has to suffer sometime during their life.

AR will become famous soon enough
props. youre brave. hey you did the right thing. goes to show what happens when someone tries and run you off the road... youll get their liscense revoked! you did the right thing broh. why? cause people who drive wreckles like that in their own car shouold not be working as driver for any company. trust me i have been in accident with a medicar driver, he totalled my protege and broke my hand by just running a light. you did the right thing, you got one less wreckless driver off the streets . thanks. it seems that people who drive for a living always are the most carless drivers.

I also think you did the right thing, but this is what i dont get. Back in my dad's time, street racing was less severe and was usually a slap on the hand if you got caught, but he was telling me that he would only go out at like 3 am on major freeways and race when no one is around. Honestly, what is so wrong with that? The reasons why we have such strict street racing laws now is because a percentage of people who are doing are idiots. Trying to race through traffic/racing from traffic light to traffic light within 200 feet then slamming on brakes. For instance, a couple of months ago, about september, I was driving down a major route and i came up to a stop light. there were about 3 cars in front of my on both sides (four lane highway). Anyways, this guy rolls down his windows and asks me to race him here, behind all of this traffic, and I give the wtf look and tell him he's an idiot and no. The laws are the way they are because of situations like this.

You did the right thing, I used to street race but after getting a speeding ticket and only having 1 point on my license I don't do it anymore only occasionally if a super-ricer passes by . I don't mind people racing on industrial closed down streets and sh*t or at 3am when no ones around cuz the only people they'll hurt are either himself or someone else racing.

I may be a rat, but I know whats right and whats wrong I mean, the fricken idiots racing were doing it in the middle of rush hour traffic on the turnpike, doing extremly high speeds. Not to mention he cut me off, and almost ran me off the road.
