I pulled out the S2k tonight for a bit of cruising, since it's been nice out lately.
Went down to the strip tonight with John (another S2k friend) and a few other friends. Did some donuts in a parking lot, just for fun (got them on video) and took a few laps as well. The only race I got on video was when my friend was in the car filming. (my fiancee refuses to film, and I do not have a camera mount yet)
The first race was against a V6 mustang. I was in the right lane about 2-3 cars behind, while my friend in a lightning was in the left lane just in front of the stang. (in the middle lane) My friend in the lightning floored it at the same time as the stang, and I stayed back a second before downshifting and also started to pass the stang. He gave up after the lightning put several lengths on him and he saw that I was about to fly by as well.
Now for the interesting part. After making a u-turn at a gas station later in the night, a new V6 tiburon followed me out of the gas station. I swear to God I'm like a magnet for these things. This particular tiburon is black with yellow "home made" stickers all over for some mad tite effect yo. It sounds like he's got some intake and exhaust or something, but who knows.
I'm at a light with John behind me, and I take off quickly, but stay below VTEC. All of a sudden I hear a "rar" next to me on the right, and the tiburon flies by. As he goes by he gives me this look, like he just kicked my butt. (yes, I'll be watching the tiburon boards for this "S2k kill") I quickly speed up in gear, and get next to him. I look over, waiting. I downshift to 2nd (going 50mph) and give a little gas. He bites, and floors it. I floor it after him, and make quick work of his Tibby GT. I'm not going to pick on them, but hey, if they want to get a piece of my car, I'm up for a little run.
After that, we come into some traffic and John ends up in front of me. Now the guy in the tiburon is next to him, and trying to get his ass whipped AGAIN. However, we are in traffic, so this is what he does. Speed up to the car in front of him. Then slow down. Speed up to the car in front of him. Then slow down. So I guess he thinks he beat john about 20 times. He's what I call a BACK END racer. "hey let's race to the back end of the car in front of us". (hence the term BACK END RACER) Now I know this is a crazy phenomenon that seems to happen all over this country. I just don't understand WHY people insist on racing for 2 feet, and seeing who wins. WTF.
So anyways, finally some space opens up, and John finally races the guy. However, as I'm watching, john is BARELY pulling on the tiburon. Interesting.... Here's what's funny. I found out later, john raced the guy using his 3rd gear... from a 35-40mph start. So yes, the tibby got owned by 3rd gear in an S2k at 40mph. Hey... pick on us S2k's and we'll pick on you right back!
The end of the night was capped off when we witnessed an extremely exciting race between none other than a dodge neon and a toyota camry. The neon got owned.

Yet another good story man. Can we please get some vid of all this stuff, it would be so sweet.
We should start a Video fund for you, cause your stories are so good that it would be like Getaway In Stockholm over and over again.
An S2ki.com member made me a video camera mount for free, and is shipping it to me. (nice guy) I will definitely be getting much more footage once I get that mount. I've actually got a LOT of street races and other things on video, but since I can't host my own videos, it's kind of a pain.
