-this entire conversation was in good fun, no real hatred exists-
Yeah. So my friend and I were talking today while she was driving me home from class in her 02 Corolla LE, and she said something making fun of my Civic. I was like "dude, my Civic owns your car." She's like "oh yeah? How much horsepower do you have?" I said "127 stock. What about you?" She said "150." I was like that sounds a bit high, but whatever. So I just looked it up on Toyota's Corolla page and it's only 130, which is closer to what I thought. So, to play with her "150 hp" answer I replied with some technical sounding talk of which I really know nothing such as "yeah, but how much torque do you have? What's your power to weight ratio" etc. Hahahahaha. Anyway, she's got an automatic, but so do I. But the point is, I figure if we ever actually do race, I know how to brake torque and she probably doesn't (yes that's an assumption based on the fact that she's a girl, sorry). And if it's a highway race, like rolling from 55 or whatever, I would assume I have the advantage because a)FIPK b) with a 6800 rpm redline you can top out 2nd gear at 65mph+ depending on various conditions. I realize redline isn't everything, but she redlines at 6000rpm, and my extra 800rpm over her would let me stay in my power curve apex longer, right?
Anyway, if the race ever happens, it's like this:
Me: 127hp + FIPK + I will make sure I have 1/4 tank of gas
Her: 130hp + no mods (I checked just to make sure*) + unknown gas level
The cars are within 50lbs of each other.
What do you think?
Now that I've thought about this way too much I'm going to go do some homework
IronFist
*Yes, this is the astrixed point above. The stock intake on a Corolla LE appeared freaking rediculous to my amateur eyes. It was way in the front corner, not that that's a bad place at all, but the path that the air flows in to get to the engine was long and twisty, and the opening was rather small. I'm sure Toyota engineers know more than me, but still. I just wasn't what I thought it would be.
edit: Her ex bf has a 3000GT Turbo that owns both of us, but that's not the point.

You can smoke her, even though i was too lazy to read your post, my ex GF talk enuff ish about smoking my Civic Auto LX hah, but girls just
don't know how to race, i just did brake torque and smoked her, it was little less then quarter mile, if it was, i probably would have loss, because
I saw her catching up big time
Don't lose. Or we'll all make fun of you for losing to a girl.
Me: I'd waste you.
Her: What if you lose?
Me: I'd admit defeat.
Her: To a girl?
Me: Yeah:
Her: In front of your male friends?
Me: Yeah, but it's not going to happen so don't worry about it.
you'll smoke her, my lx 115 did, so s'all good........
when you beat her, she'll be like so amazed, i rmber my ex was like all confused and was asking how come before we start
my car is revving, i'm like "my car has a racing chip" , lol
My Civic stick vs. a new Corolla auto...it would be VERY close. I've driven both...and TRUST me...that Toyota engine has alot more pep to it than ours do.

why would u drive with a 1/4 tank of gas, ive been to the tracks with full tank and 1/4 tank - and if u didnt know your car is tuned for maximum performance on a full tank of gas
edit: er.. a 01, 02 corolla (not the new one, right? thats the 03, the one that has new styling, kinda like the matrix...?) has 125 hp @ 5,800 rpm and 125 lbs.ft torque at 4,000 rpm
I thought u were talking about the 03, so i typed all these: BUT, it still pretty much applies for the 01, 02 corolla.

you'll have a disavantage from a roll dude.
think about it, her torque curve is way better than yours... sure ur ex probably has more aggressive gearings than that corolla... it may make things more even... does the auto ex downshift to 2nd gear when you're going at 50-55 mph? if so, then you have a better chance from a roll... but I'd still prefer from a dead stop.
dont factor redline into this cuz its two different cars with two different engines with two different power curves and two different gear ratios.
if I know all those factors mentioned, I can make a comparison.. unfortunately I'm stupid so yeah....
you'll have a better chance from a dead stop... I'm sure you'll practice the brake torque a bit... and work on the launch... she may just stomp it and spin out... so if you out launch her, the race is over.
the corolla's engine is simply a more powerful engine.
I dont know about the FIPK, since I dont own it, and I dont know where it makes power and where it loses power...
pretty even race though. *shrug* hopefully you do a good launch, and the FIPK does give more power than it takes away... and you're on a low amount of gas... (if you can go 1/4, why not go 1/8 or 1/16? you'll still have plenty of gas to get home, or go get gas...)
anyhow. make sure u do this safe. I dont want to call dibs on your FIPK.

Gas = 6 or 8 lbs per gallon, I forgot which.
Therefore, a full tank weighs either 72 or 96 pounds.
So 1/4 of a tank or less will weigh either 28 or 24 pounds.
The answer is weight reduction.
Anyway, when my low fuel light is on, my car feels fast as hell. I even made a post about this once. But right after I fill it up, it feels sluggish.
Oh, dude! I just came up with the best way to win. Type R stickers!!
CapYoda,
No, it's not the Matrix looking one. It's just a regular sedan. Next time I see her (next week) I'll ask what year it is. I'm pretty sure she said 02 because she got it last January, same month as I got my 02 Civic.
