Last Night's Little Race

I was driving home from girlfriend's house at about 1:30am or so. I was driving over the bridge to get to the other side of the river where my house is and was going about 50 in a 45 since that area is usually populated with a cop or 2. This dude in a POS Toyota something or other comes flying up behind me doing about 70. He had some nasty rims and a big ol exhaust on his car, but to each his own. I didn't think anything of it and just kept going 50.

I get to the top of the bridge and I see him at the bottom at a red light. I am tempted to speed up and pull up next to him before the lights changes, but again, I just mind my own business and slowly pull in behind him. He takes off as fast as he can and stops at the next light to turn left. This happens to be the same way I am going. Well, after a few more lights of this dude revving at me and squealing his tires, I decided I would give him a shot. I know my car isn't fast and all and I am just happy to get good gas mileage for my daily driving, but surely I can be an old POS Toyota that thinks he's all that because he has some nasty rims and big ol exhaust.

I pulled up next to him at the next light and looked at him and gave him "the nod" and he understood that it was on. The light turned green and I waited for him to make the first move. As soon as I heard his tires squeal, I stomped on the gas and it was over. I pulled on him through first and second and by third I was already doing about 65 and a car and half ahead of him. I decided to slow down and get over to the left lane to make my turn to go home. He continued about until about 80 and then turned right at the same light that I turn left at to go home. I probably made him feel bad or something. I don't know. I am by no means a racer and that is my first race, if you can even call it that. Anyways, I thought it was funny so I thought I would share. I wish we would have been on the Interstate because then I really could have left him in the dust.

I like Jesus and I like technology. It was a catchy name when I was looking for a domain name 2 years ago.

Its not the most creative name, but it has a nice little ring to it and people are familiar with it now so I am going to hang on to it for a while longer. I have it registered until December I think or maybe January. I guess technology is kind of a broad term. I am mostly interested in Computers and Pro Audio, but I like to dabble in car audio, home audio, etc.

Anyways, back on topic...I made sure to turn off my A/C before I raced him because if it was on, I might have lost. hehe. That dang thing sucks the power right out of your car. He was playing some sort of rap, but I am not up on the current rap artists these days so I couldn't tell you who it was. He seemed to be enjoying it though. I had my CD player turned off at the time. His music was loud enough for the both of us, though his was a little more distorted than I care for. Maybe I will see him again some night on my way home. I would give him a rematch. Maybe next time I will turn on the A/C and top of the fuel so that he has a little more of an advantage.

I had a race on saturday night with a 7thgen sedan. He was definitely stock, 5spd and it was an Ex. I have a 5spd coupe Lx and the only performance mod I have is an intake, everything else is cosmetic. I'm behind a car at a light and he pulls up in the lane next to me revin and he was in the front. Both lanes are left truning lanes. Light turns green and we wait for the car in front of me to go ahead quite a bit then we start to roll. As soon as we both were straight in our lanes we hit it. He had a little jump on me because he was in the inside lane and gunned it before I did. To my surprise I was gaining on him quite a bit but we caught up to the other car so I had to slow down and get behind him. Before I had to slow down, my front bumper was at his right front wheel and I was still gaining. When I get behind him, he throws on his flashers like he smoked me with ease. I was really pissed off, I even have witnesses that saw the race and they will tell you that I would of taken him easily, but o well.

I don't feel safe racing in traffic. I guess I am just a defensive driver. Never been in an accident though so I guess its worth being cautious. I've had my car for 10 months and I have only been in 2 races. One was last night and one was a couple of months ago against my brother in his old beat up van. I usually don't count that one, but it was technically a race. Needless to say, I wooped him.

Wins: 2
Losses: 0

Good record so far.

my friend and i went out to race onces, he has a 96DX-sedan with an exhaust and a really nice cold air intake that goes to the very front of the car to suck max air (i have no idea what they call it), and i just had my 02stockHXcoupe, if i remember right the 96DX has something like 106hp stock + gains from exhaust and intake, and the HX got 117hp.

in first gear we both were equal but in the beginning of secon he gained on me but i was coming back when he was in 3rd and i in the high 2nd, it was a fun race & we went up to about 80mph.

we both considere being equal on that race though cuz it was pretty even except for mionor gains in both cars.
was hella fun.
a friend of ours who was following us in his dodge stratus couldnt keep up .
