I have a buddy who street races a 9 second Nova and has been doing it for a few years. Ive already told him how i felt and i never go with him and he even knows what he is doing is stupid. I have heard some CRAZY stories. Fuck street racing.

I am glad to hear youre holding up ok. I noticed its been a few days...how is the driver doing?

If anyone is interested in doing some work there is an organization out there called Racers Against Street Racers

http://www.rasr.info/

Once again, I hope everyone can learn from this, and not have to experience it for themselves.

Well, he finally woke up! but he's comlaining about some hard headaches every now and then. docs said that its normal because of the broken cranium. He also cant see very well and meds said that that MIGHT go away. But after that he's okay but you should of see the docs watching the pictures of the car and him at the same time and how amaized they were because they're alive!!! thanx for asking!

I am definitely glad to hear he is awake. We have all made mistakes in our lives, and I know he will grow from this and learn not to do that ever again. Im amazed as well that the injuries werent worse.

Sorry guys, but I have no information on the program. It is in my buddie's AIM profile, and thats how I know about it, no other information. But you dont really need it. If you want to spread the message, have group track days, or car events, try to get out there and do good things in the community. This isnt only good public service, but will show people and police that not everyone with a custom car is a street racer. For example, my local club here is having a big meet with sponsors and things to remember Charles Cassidy, a local policeman who was killed. I am in philadelphia, if anyone is interested in coming to the event, let me know.

Re: A street race story

Sad story. Hope everyone is ok now.

I still do not understand why people have the desire to drive fast on public roads, let alone two lane roads. If you cannot go to a drag strip, at least go to the outskirts of your city, on a empty country road, that way no innocent people get hurt when u die being dumb.

Re: A street race story

maybe higher gas prices will keep everyone going slower. i know im almost always driving 3krpm and below to save gas. but ive still noticed people going nuts so idk. motorcycles are usually the worst.

Re: A street race story

Tragic. Enough stuff can happen without going completely crazy racing. I was on my bike turning left and got hit by a van that tried to 'accelerate' by me. Looked twice, third time I looked while leaning to the left I looked right and van was about a foot beside me (they were going around 40mph. I was going about 15mph). Blacked out while I was in the air and I was lucky for many reasons.
1. My supervisor from work was one to find me. We were both on our ways to work.
2. I had almost full gear on. (Snell approved helmet, mesh jacket with armor, gloves, combat boots)
3. I ended up with just a broken right wrist, bruised right thigh, and my left knee is still swollen.

If there's a track near you, use it.
Be curtious with everyone else on the road.

Please, look twice or thrice for people on motorcycles. Not all of us are stunting a-holes. Riding fast, yes. I can't deny it. But it's better to look twice and be sure or let the other person pass (car or bike) than risk someone's life.

Anyway, just thought I'd post this. Thanks to whoever reads this and thanks a million if it saves someone's life.

Re: A street race story

im very careful around motorcycles. i always just leave plenty of room and keep a lookout. best thing for them to do is not drive in our blindspot like some of them do on purpose it seems. just speed up and stay in front or in back.
