Tonight at around 1030 I was driving home from school, relaxing on cruise control...and then this black corolla pulls up beside me on the highway, we're doing 60...well I was but he was revving at me for the longest time...at first I decided not to race, but then I was like...ah wth it's all fun and games...so we start from 60, at first I pull half a car length on him for about 30 seconds, then he pulls half a car on me for 15 seconds, but by 90mph I pulled 1/2 a car on him, then 1 car and then he flashed his lights and I was off, he didn't rev at me anymore afterthat lol...I have a 2002 Auto LX, nothing special just 18 inch rims, I thought he was gonna smoke me, but he didn't...so I guess I won that one.

ok maybe I exaggerated a little lol, the whole race was like 20 secs, it felt long cause we were pulling on each other...I was just telling u guys how much I pulled on him and he on me, didn't expect to pull out a spot watch on his a$$. If you guys wanted to nitpick, nitpick about my auto, but least I won, and that still amazes me...
lol... i'm sorry but.. either the guy in the corolla don't know how to drive or this story is a BS... cuz there is no way a 115hp 1.7L Civic LX automatic with no vtec can kill a 125hp vvti Corolla (or 130hp on 03 Corolla).. also, both car weights about the same and your 18" rim will slow you down even more..
i mean.. if you have an EX or Si Civic.. i might/will belive of it.. but.. with LX... nooooway.....
eh I beat my friends 03 corrola all the time for fun and I got an LX with just basic mods.
Corrolas are slow mothers and actually they weigh more than our car. If we are comparing coupe to corrola.
I think a corrola will beat a new eclipse 4 cyl though, just about everything does!
also like to note. He has a bunch of TRD stuff on his car that equals out my basic mods.
Maybe we just respond better?
I bought an LX knowing that im going to swap very soon within a year or boost the hell out of it becuase of its lower comperation-respond better than ex-,all this next fall becuase of warranty, it will be one of these two.

guess what... i have a 00 Civic DX and a 2004 Corolla... the DX is a base model.. which is alot lighter then my corolla with fully loaded.. but my corolla (stock) still kills my DX with cold air intake..
btw... TRD did not make any performance parts for 98 to 02 corolla.. and the only performance parts TRD made for 03+ corolla is Cold Air Intake, Muffler (performance??) and a supercharger... so what do you mean by bunch?

stock, 1.7L SOHC non-VTEC Civic with 115hp, 110tq and weights about 2474lbs (manual)
can beat a
stock 1.8L DOHC VVT-I Corolla with 130hp, 125tq that weights about 2502lbs (manual)??? (all the infomation came from autos.yahoo.com)

also, car and driver tested a 2003 corolla last year and rans 0-60 in in about 8.5 seconds... you think a stock LX can do that?

i'm not tring to tell you guys corolla is the best.. cuz i agree that Civic EX MIGHT take a Corolla but that's depands on the driver's skill, and a SI will take a corolla anytime... so please stop telling my a stock LX can take out a Corolla..
hey umm newbie to make a bigger fool of yourself. Also like I said corrola weighs alot more. Everyone has talked about this on this site already, just got look it up.
some civics with just nos on an auto can beat a gts driver in the 1.8th seen it member on here thats done it
if he pulled on you and you pulled it back he coulda been a manual that misshifted? it's not like your auto gets a burst of speed or anything. lol
my girl has an 02 ex auto with I/E and her brother has an 01 corrola. me and him screwed around and raced a few times. the civic lost EVERY time and it wasnt even close. hed pull 2 - 3cars. his car is stock.

lol... this is funny.... you said corolla weights alot more.. then prove it... prove me that corolla weight soo much that 15 extra hp and 10 extra torque doesn't do anything... and please don't compare a base model civic (no power windows, power lock or even no AC) with a fully loaded Corolla.. just by telling me your opinion doesn't means its the fact... show me the number, or a website.. (please remember 50lbs = 1hp)

btw.. any car with a NOS can beat a GTS or even a RSX-S... no.. wait.... you don't even need a nos to beat a GTS.. a manual Corolla with a Cold air intake will take a stock automatic GTS anytime...

Wow you are dumb...first of all vtec is not that big of a deal, ours isnt even the real one, it is an economy/fuel efficient one. Second of all the gearing on the lx/dx make up for the loss in hp so the cars will accelerate about the same. Plus if they were both autos then I can see how the civic might have won, Toyota's automatic transmission is horrible for racing. Even with the SLIGHT power difference between the two, factors such as power curve and gearing come into play and may be at the civic's advantage. Quit treating V TEC like it is the god of horsepower, truth is, it ain't sh!t. Tons of companies have something mirroring it. so all I have to say to you is

i don't know that much about 7th Gen civic.. but i can tell you without VTEC... S2000 is nothing... without i-VTEC Si is nothing.... as far as i know... VTEC = to cover up the little torque by rasing the horsepower on high RPM...
anyways.... like i said in the first few posts.. i OWN a 04 corolla and a 00 Civic DX.. i don't have problems with my Civics.. i'm just telling the truth... if anyone disagree with me... meet me or my members with corollas.. and we will see whos better...
oh.. btw... my STOCK AUTOMATIC corolla pump out 104hp and 105 torque to the wheel... i have the dyno sheet to prove it... so anybody want to show me Stock Automatic LX Dyno result?

^^exsactly what he said. If you want a stock car that can beat us greatly, go get yourself a mazda or a sentra. Im sorriy corrolas are slow/ugly where civic just are slow . There was a post about this like 2 yeas ago where it was the new corrola vs new civic if anyone is going to make that into this Im sure a mod will lock this thread.

oh... here is the picture of the Civic EX... it's about the same as Corolla... so anybody want to prove me wrong by saying LX can beat a 2000+ Corolla again?
^^^ those numbers are right, I had that issue. I think Corolla is one of the fastest in the class.... but to compare LX with Corolla isnt always fair. EX with Corolla different story. You mentioned S2000 VTEC, those will be DOHC VTEC, where switching cam shafts are used. That is different from the VTEC on the EX. I'm not here to say Corollas are slow, (but I still think they are slow, AND CIvics are slow, stock). BUT in my hometown, Corolla's are well tuned and well liked cars... just here in the US, Corolla's are looked at as old folk cars.... sorry. But you know, youre tossing up a lot of #'s..... we have ppl posting here from experience, and in some of your posts, it seems like you are speaking from experience also. But when it comes to racing (for me it's in the corners), it can be anyones win. I have a friend with a 99 Corolla auto, think I can beat him with a 5 speed LX?

yep.. i totally agree with you.. corolla is not the fastest car but its not the slowest... i just don't understand why some civic driver alway thought corollas are slow.. and like i said before.. i have no problem with civics because i own one too.. just that i can't agree a stock LX can beat a Corolla.. but i do agree a EX might beat a corolla but thats depands on the driving skill...

lol... i belive your manual LX WILL Kill an Automatic Corolla... it's just like a Manual Corolla with Cold Air Intake can kill a celica GT-S..
btw.. i also agree Civic has better rear suspension setup then the Corollas... even tho the new corollas changes to semi-independance suspension setup, double wish-bone suspension is better at corners....
