Ok I got a 2001 Civic LX
I LOVE the way the car looks, the interior is nice (not too old like the 1995 that grew on me finally)
I want something fun to drive thoug. Not really looking to race, probably never will aside from at a stop light maybe...what would I spend $1000 on? I seen a turbo kit for $500 on Ebay, JDM too but Im not sure thats what I want or if that'd be a stupid choice. I spent $4000 on the car, I cant and wont spend more than $1000 on mods (probably ever, the 1000 is probably all ill ever put into mods for speed). Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I've also considered trying to get a different one (I couldnt rip the engine outta this thing its got maintanence records from like 2001), and doing an engine swap but it looks like that runs 6000 MINIMUM with labor and engine. I'm pretty picky with cars for look or id consider another one. how much better off would i be getting a 1995 civic? keeping in mind id want a brand new paintjob and interior work to bring it a little up to date looking (so additional costs obviously). i like the 95 civic, 2001 civic, 2001 style mustang sort of (interior is ugly), i dont know. the 2001 is probably one of my most favorite looking cars ever though, ive liked this thing for YEARS and just recently got it. i literally like it more than probably any car under 50-100 thousand. just to stress how much id like to make THIS particular car fast if its not too bad. my budget is about $5000 give or take a couple hundred including vehicle. (paid 4000 for this civic).

truthfully it depends how long you're keeping the car. things like engine swaps and modifications are only worth your coin if you are keeping the car for a long time. i went to get an engine swap price quote and depending on the engine u want, it'll cost u more then the cars worth
other things such as better intake and what not u can go for, but its the same application, if your civic is a point A to point B car and u are planning on getting something better and newer down the road, dont invest so much money into it

Please do keep the civic at factory setup and specifications. Do not race the civic son, it is not meant to offer any performance. My civic is a wonderful joy to me in getting groceries and taking me to my bingo sessions. It even beats my grandsons moped in a race when we line them up. Its plenty fast, in fact when I put the gas pedal to the maximum downward full position, the acceleration does not give me a queasy feeling as was the case when I floored the gas pedal of my old Geo Metro. The wonderful gentle civic is so wonderful and the gas mileage is superb. Do not race the wonderful civic, son. It is not a performance car and will provide you many miles for errands, groceries, and trips or bingo. Just about any other car is more suitable for performance, so please save the civic for kinder, gentler tasks and not racing.
