what does this do?

Say in winter time... Wouldnt it kinda be worse since it would take the tranny even longer to get warmed up?

its a small cooler and can't do that much in winter. If you feel the return lines, they will still be hot. Its good for summer but won't hurt in the winter. Remember the tranny heats up when in gear.
