EF Hatch build.

Just needing a place to document my newest acquisition! I am familiar with forum life, and love being part of a community, so having a place to park my new toy is important, even if the only start I have on her so far is getting her moved from the garage of the old owner, into my driveway!

So it begins: 91 standard hatch. 4sp manual. She's got rough paint but the body is mostly clean and there is very minimal rust. Got it from my best friend who had big plans and originally thought it might be an Si, but was not.

The Good:
Picked up the car, was able to drive it like I stole it for 6 whole blocks! Transmission works. Has nice (cheap) wheels but needs tires to be a daily. Damn near brand new Tokico blues on the back. Came with a brand new interior carpet in the box ready to roll in one day.

The Bad:
Needs a new engine. She smoked and choked the whole way. It's cool, I knew that when I went to get it. Looking forward to making a final decision on what her first reincarnation will be! Driver's side window regulator is needing replaced- have the part.

The UGLY:
That paint. Eh, no big deal. Will get her on the road first, and THEN deal with aesthetics.

So, here are a few pics, nothing fancy yet since I only had time to beat her the heck home and up into the drive.

First mod: pop that Si badge off lol.

Sitting with her sister, my current daily 13 Sonic RS 6m lightly modified.

Re: EF Hatch build.

Just a little update:

Finally got thru the teardown and removal of the engine. Discovered a cracked valve, shot rings, and mirror-like cylinder walls. Who's surprised?!

I learned a whole helluva lot doing this. Plans now are to fully clean and paint the engine bay and work on a wire tuck for the d16z6 that I hope to find for it soon.

Window regulator is fixed, discovered after the last two big storms that there is a leak into the hatch area, pretty sure it is the tails. Tracking down and fixing that is on the list as well.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
