New Guy, First Mod coming next Thursday! Needs help picking which one to do?...
Whats Up Guys,
I am new here, I have a 2002 Honda Civic EX Automatic. I want to do a lot of modification to it and just want to hear what some of you have to say and get the pros and cons of things to add on and not to add on. I am going for a White, Black, Green color scheme. So just let the ideas flow and give me some good info on some good products to buy. Thanks!
MOD Ideas I have:
- Paint my rims Flat black (With the logos on the rims painted Green)
- low profile tires
- New brake pads
- Paint my calipers Green
- Darker Window Tint
- Lowering kit (to set at 2inch lower)
- Halo Headlights (smoked)
- New tail lights (smoked)
- Flat Black Logos
- New Stero Head Unit (With Touch Screen)
- New door speakers
- Subs ( Two 12inch)
- Air Intake
- Exhaust
- A very clean cut front lip, rear lip, side skirts
- Thinking about racing seats in the front...
- Hit me up with your ideas and what you think of mine Guys:
v Here is my car!

Re: New Guy, Wants to start Mods on his 2002 Honda Civic EX:
Your mod list seems alright.
I would shy away from the street glow and the smoked headlights. The street glow, IMO, looks too ricey. And the smoked headlights make your headlights more dim, so less visibility during the night time.
OH, and for racing seats, if you plan on regularly taking passengers or regularly driving that car, I would advise to shy away from them too, as they are very, very uncomfortable (non-adjustable).
Welcome to the forums! Hope your modifications go well.

It sounds good for the most part. I wouldn't do exhaust just because its annoying to get beat by everyone who thinks you want to race them. And I would skip the neon too . . . focusing on your suspension and sound system first is key to making the car more fun to drive.
Re: New Guy, Wants to start Mods on his 2002 Honda Civic EX:
not a bad start. welcome to the forums. If you are really serious about going white green and black you COULD paint the outer lip of your wheels green and the center caps. That would look pretty cool. Also i know lots of the guys arent so into this but you could get some tasteful black and green grapics on the side or something like that. Idk its hard to explain. Most guys are hardcore against grapics but if done right i think they can work. You could also consider a 3tone paint scheme. Some other mods could be blacking out your headlights instead of projectors or just buying black projectors. Also a black type r, altezza whatever you wanna call it grill would look good too. Look on ebay for that one its cheap and really changes up the look. But as for order of doing mods i'd say do your wheels, then drop, then kit, then exhaust and see where that takes you. In my experience my tastes have changed. the first thing i bought for my car was altezza tails, then m3 mirrors then a bodykit then blackout lights. Of those first mods the only one i kept were the blackout lights. my bodykit cracked and sucked and the mrrors and tails were ugly. just my opinion. I'd suggest also car audio cuz everybody enjoys good music. As for suggestions alpine or jl all the way.

Welcome to the site..I have the same car as you also in white, i went with black rims myself with a chrome lip. If you are going to paint your rims please do not spray paint them because they come out a mess, unless you r really good at it. You said you wanted to paint ur brake pads green, as far as i know people dont paint their pads, but i guess you meant calipers. If you want a 2inch drop you should go with eibach sport lines springs, or coilovers if you have $900 to sepnd. I would only smoke my lights only if its a real light smoke because of visibility. I would also stay away from the neon, looks way to ricey. BTW i am selling 2 front door speakers in new condition, they are kickers 6.5's 150 watts each...selling them cheap..PM me if interested.

^^ Awesome car man!
Thanks for all the advice guys and for the welcomes!
I get paid again next week on Thursday and it will be my first amount of money going to a mod. So I am looking around the $200.00 range for the first mod on my car, the three that hit me are:
Re: New Guy, First Mod coming next Thursday! Needs help picking which one to do?...
link doesn't work..those are all good choices for the first mod, i'm still waiting on suspension and lip kit myself...hey KEVBOTRON what rear lip is that? it's nice.
Re: New Guy, First Mod coming next Thursday! Needs help picking which one to do?...
well considering your looking to spend 200.00 the lowering kit is out as you will need springs, camber kit, and new struts to do it properly. Sure you can get springs for that price and a camber kit isn't 100% necessary, but you will need to resolve issues later down the road as a result of changing just the springs which equals more money and time. Headlights are a waste and an intake is just for noise. If it were me I would black out your headlights if you know how and get a plug and play hid kit. That will give you the best look and performance in your price range. Hope that helps.
Re: New Guy, First Mod coming next Thursday! Needs help picking which one to do?...
Linky no worky dude..
I'd stray away from the underglow and halo headlights.. the halo headlights usually have terrible light output and look ugly IMO. Smoking them won't help either..
I'd black out your OEM ones or by a pair of "JDM black housing" ones from PasswordJDM..a reputable site with good products.
1. I'd look into Neuspeed lowering springs for that kind of drop.. but if you wanted my personal opinion I would save that $200, and keep saving until you can afford a full coilover suspension set up instead of just springs. That way you can have an adjustable drop setting and better suspension all together instead of just springs which drop the car but offer no handling upgrade whatsoever.
2. AEM V2 is probably the best choice. Freeing up the flow of air will get you better gas mileage and open up the breathing path for the engine.. its always a nice upgrade. Not just for noise.

Good luck, and welcome
Dunno how much I agree with that...The civic is designed to be as fuel efficient as possible when stock and typically mods decrease gas mileage not increase it. The air box is not what restricts the airflow into the engine the throttle body is more than likely the bottleneck and if you were to increase the size of that gas mileage would decrease not increase. Also most people that have an intake red line through every gear just to hear that bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and that for sure will lower gas mileage. Intake is for sound and nothing more. I have had my car both ways and gas mileage is always better when I am stock.

Dude just lower d car on eibach sportlines and tokiko blues and get a lip kit.. scratch everything else. Stick wit the clean look.. no underglow, no halo headlights.. keep ur stocks and dats bout it... just lower and lip kit, oh and slap some rsx seats in der
