| Re: a sweet pic of my SM civic Not to bad, race tires are a huge improvement. I typically am in the top couple at local events (15-20 in the SM class), running really close times with those that are above me.
SM is a difficult class to compete in though especially with the national level cars, it is just way to expensive. I raced against Jarrod Hoops and Andy Leiber in the Showcase Evo at a couple of local events this year, they were typically around 3-4 seconds faster on a 40 second course. The car was usually as fast as the shifter carts and beat SM third place (because it was a 2 driver car) by atleast 2-3 seconds. Jarrod ended up taking 3rd at nationals. It is one sick a$$ car with a crap ton of money invested in all of the right ways.
So yeah a local SM competator yes, but not a national level car. It could get there, but it would take a good amount of $. I am making a couple of changes this off season, including a Quaif, but honestly I am trying to move into some of the NASA track events.
With wanting to autox and do track events I am going to have to try to make a car that works well for both and a car that works well for both will never be superior at one.
