That sux. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow man. The only thing holding me back is time at this point. I've got more couplers en route, but those will probably arrive before I'm ready to turn the beast over. Trying to balance the Army, a family, upkeep on the house, college, and a raving addiction to Hondas is hard work!

Re: Day 5 of Install (pg 8)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

oh ok so you mounted it just like mine just with smaller bolts got it!!!
I got lazy I drilled two holes in the support! Mounting the intercooler was probably one of the easiest things to do!

P.S Have you figured out your oil line set up? I had a shit load of the timing using the stock pressore sensor port. None of my fittings or even the stock pressure sender would clear the intake manifold. I had to make a little 3 inch stainless steel hose then to a set of tee's for my turbo feed, stockpsi, & oil pressure gauge sensor.

I wish my camera was up & going!!! Damn girlfriend broke it!!!

But you can see it bowing out at the bottom where the IC is hitting it. I'm glad I didn't mount it front of the bumper. 50/50 chance of screwing it up and I got it right!! Woohoo! Score one for 'foos!

I tried cutting the little fins off on the underside of the bumper cover, like this.

But it didn't work. In the end I had to cut a piece out of the bumper to clear the IC. I'm not particularly happy with it right now, but it does give me an excuse to buy a lip kit! Like I need more reasons to spend money....

Lookee here. Plastic is for suckas.

Yes I know, the cut is all ragged and crappified and its still a little bowed. I took some more plastic off after this photo and it doesn't bow out anymore. I'll clean it up later, plus the lip I end up ordering will hide it anyway.

FoSho, here's how I mounted the IC to the bumper. You're looking at the backside. This way I didn't have put those long ass bolts through the bumper to reach the other side.

Simply put, the damn thing doesnt fit. Its 9" tall, and there's 7.5 under the bumper. If you trim the bumper to make it clear, it hangs out the bottom pretty bad. Thats why I got rid of it.
Get a shorter one made.

Re: Day 5 of Install (pg 8)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

It'll work for now boiler. Once the lip goes on, that extra bit poking out will be covered anyway. I'd have to completely change my piping setup and I'm not willing to do that at this point.

Steve, it'll be finished by this weekend - hopefully. If not, then it will be done when its done. I'm in no real hurry.

You bet FoSho. Oil lines and sending units were easy.Get one of these. An oil sandwich adapter. Its got four tapped holes to run all the feed lines and sending units you could want. Plus it was only like $30 on Ebay. Everything clears the intake just fine with it on there. Ignore that Y8 pressure sensor on there. I ended up getting a different one. I may end up running longer bolts all the way through the bumper for the IC mount. More support that way. Still thinking about it though.

Re: Day 5 of Install (pg 8)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

Day 6

Yeah FoSho, I don't have the little rubber air dam (car was put in a ditch by the previous owner) otherwise I'd do that. I want a lip kit anyway.

So I got some more things checked off the install list today, and things went surprisingly smooth! I was able to install the fuel pump and RSX-S injectors, and put longer studs in to accommodate the longer RSX injectors. It was almost scary how easy it went.

Now, you should always have a clear working area when you're taking things apart. That way you can find everything you're working on and things don't get mixed up. This is NOT a clear working space, but ya'll know I live dangerously...

Lookee here, its a shiny new Walbro fuel pump! Although that pump next to it looks like a caged beast, its not. Its a stock fuel pump. On the left it's "Hefty, Hefty, Hefty!" and on the right it's "Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!"

OK, I just showed both my advanced age and my maturity level. They are polar opposites. Alpha and a few others may remember that late 80s commercial jingle....

I didn't have any regular rubber fuel line to run from the new pump to the pump housing. So I just used my SS -6AN fuel line. Depending on how much folks poo-poo that idea I may change. I haven't thought about effects of gasoline on SS fuel line, but it should be OK. And yes, it fit back in the tank like that!

Here's how much longer RSX-S injectors are compared to stockers. They have bigger horses inside. That's why they're longer. They need room to make more ponies.

But even better I got a package I've been waiting a long time for!!! I shouldn't have been waiting this long and after he checks his PM, Matt will know why.....

Re: Day 5 of Install (pg 8)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

Day 6 cont'd

My new (to me) block arrived today! Oh happy day!!!

Look its a hunk of aluminum with holes in it that you stuff with other silver things.

A quick check of the deck it looks square. Gonna get it hot tanked and checked at the machine shop to be sure though.

Now you'll see a couple problems in these next few pictures. Since I'll be either sleeving, pegging, or notching the block this isn't a huge problem, I just wish I had known prior to buying it. Hopefully, this isn't indicative of other problems on the block. Luckily its only the bottom of two piston chambers, and not all four.

That's it folks. More updates tomorrow!!

No I bought it off someone in April and it arrived today. It is used, but it will be the foundation that I'm building my stage 2 setup on.

You bet Travis, that's the fuel rail. Its got a vacuum line attached to it (what the rubber hose is attached to) and of course the fuel line.
