Ha ha ha, oh shit that was funny stuff. Not the bad stuff happening, but when you said "I have two options: pour gas on the car, light it on fire and walk away... " I laughed so freakin hard, that's what I'm going to say from now on when I run into a problem with my car. Oh geez. Good stuff.
Sux on the other crap happening. Soon you'll get it running good.
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
hmmm......what did I tell you about the check, check, and recheck beotch! Get me a juice box! I'm glad you caught it. That is amazing you didn't bend any valves. It must have lost tension in the right spot...karma was on your side buddy.
Thred jack karma was not on my side....drove car this morning, let sit until tonight, checked oil(good), checked coolant, and found no coolant in overflow and about 2 cap fulls low in the top radiator neck. I only had it filled right to the min line in the resi so I could accurately measure any coolant push. I wanted to light it on fire aswell. Filled her up and drove the piss out of her on 4.77 psi...no overheating so I guess I'll see in the morning if I pushed/lost any coolant, pull plugs, etc.....
So don't feel bad Clint. I wanna blow my car up today too.....an s2000 looks better and better ever day. These fuckin cars are like women. They look great, they put out, they make ya feel good, they're fun to work on, but they cost alot, and they are always causing drama! No matter how awesome she is there is always someone out there sick of her shit! haha
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Fuck Scott, I have no idea. But I'm going to sacrifice a few chickens to Big Daddy Boost in the Sky tonight as a thank you! Got her all back together aside from filling the radiator back up and putting the bumper on and she idles like normal again. Talk about a close call!
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Thats amazing Clint! Probably the only 2nd Honda I"ve ever seen jumping/slipping time and not bend a valve. At least you pulled through.....Checked my car this morning and it actually pulled about an inch of coolant out of my overflow and back into the raditor. The radiator was again 2 cap fulls low on the top neck.
Plugs look good, passed pressure test, & compresion. I guess we'll see what happens but the coolant has to be going somewhere. No smoke out my tailpipe and no leaks. I'm dumbfounded. Worked great for 1 month and now this.
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
That is weird Avery. Not sure what to tell you. Could your heater core have a pinhole leak or something? Do you smell coolant in the car?
I have a sad story to relate though.
Well you all know the problems I've been having with the car. Well I think those are over now. Just in case they are not, I just bought Darius' EX head to swap out when it gets here. That'll fix those valves if they are bent (which I don't think they are) for sure! Plus I'd rather PnP the head myself.
Anyway. Some of you may remember way back when I first got my PnP head. It had some nifty "Spoon Coil Packs" (as was advertised by the dude selling it). Uhuh. OEM coilpacks with stickers.
But! They looked bangin! Especially back in my NA days!
Well, I'm sad to announce that the last two gave up the ghost today. It was a very sad day. This is how she looks now.
Oh. And here's a little viddy yo that shows a couple things.
1. How the PCS does a crappy job at idle with SRT-4 injectors.
2. The fact that my car runs fine again!
3. I like the sound of my exhaust.
4. There's was a bunch of crap in the exhaust from when I just flooded it out and ran it yesterday with no exhaust!
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Sounds good clint..Your idle sounds just like mine or any other turbo for that matter. They all have that nice pitter-putter sound. Like something is lurking in the engine bay! I still can't believe you didn't bend any valves. Crazy.
BTW I see you have the IAT sensor in the metal.....dezod told me not to due this due to tune issues. You having any besides just being a piggy back.
I was thinking a leak in the heater core aswell but I'd imagine to have blue carpet by now. I filled the resi and bleed the cooling system for 1 hour w/ the cap off. It did spit some bubbles out with the heater on, shut heater off, and the thermostat still wouldn't open after 45 mins (101 degrees today too) So I turned the heater on again after 20 more minutes and finally the thermostat opened and some small bubbles came out. I did top it off a little so hopefully I did have some air bubbles. But why would it take 1 month to surface?
Ran the piss out of her even with the a/c on. No overheat and no smoke. No coolant push and no leaks. So I;ll check when she cools down and see what happens. I'm still not sure.
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Did you stick your IAT in the charge piping then? I'm willing to give it a shot (sort of) if that might help things, but aside from the flaky idle and sometimes a weird "I'm gonna sit at Stoich regardless of what you do and then I'm gonna misfire!" thing it does sometimes on a warm start, it's fine really. What's that uber leak proof gunk you guys use when stick the IAT sensor in a coupling?
I can't wait to get k-pro. Oh and I bought a used EX head off someone. I'm probably just going to swap to it, just to be safe.
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
damn that thing sounds mean! nice vid by the way clint. hope things run better from now on for the both of you guys! i need to look for a block so i can build my engine before putting in the car... i'll start looking again after my wedding...

Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
nice work done again clint, but still i would be carefull you dont know if the valve did bend or not if they dont seal they wont cool down and they'll get burned.
Re: Rebuild Time - First Startup Vid on Page 167!!! - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Well I use hondabond or toyota black silicone. Not sure whats avail. to you. Maybe RTV Silicone? Blue or green shit I think...Take the valve cover off clint...you'll surely see if a valve is bent. It'll look like your p***s....==^=D haha. (note. image may be larger than actual size)
Checked car after cooling down and last drive. Found Coolant reservior down the exact same again and the radiator low 2 cap fills. So now instead of pushing I'm losing coolant? WTF.....I topped the radiator off and did not bleed the system or top of the resi. So i want to see what happens now. I am still not overheating ever, burning coolant every, smoking, misfiring, leaking coolant pressure, leaking coolant....nothing!! I am so doubtfounded...and as a mechanic it is very frustrating. Only thing I can do is wait till work on monday and pressure test the system with my boroscope down her throat. The head and block are straight and this engine has never ever made it's way past the middle mark on the temp gauge.
1 thing I did find strange. When I get done driving the top and bottom hoses are hot. So is the top radiator tank/neck. So I know there is coolant there. The coolant resi has not lost or gained any at this point after driving. It is in the exact spot I left it at to monitor push/lose. So this means I am losing the coolant out of the radiator during cool down and the radiator cap is trying to do it's job by refilling the system. So put on your detective hat and think for me! I'm off to the bar tonight....my car made me mad.
