You should check out magnaflow's straight through mufflers. I used 2 of them inline and it quieted the car down a lot. I used 1 4" round one and a 5x8" oval muffler.

Thread jack away man, I don't mind.

Yeah Jose, but it's 2.5" not 3", so it simply won't work for me.

Quiet is not high on my list of my priorities for this exhaust, maximum flow is. I've almost decided on the muffler. Will probably make my mind up today. I'll PM you later Jose and hit you up on AIM if you're going to be around tonight. I have fiddled with the tuning myself once the new head got put on, but it's difficult since the car is so out of whack with the fried alternator. The fast idle is solid at 14.68 on a cold start, but after that she's wonky. Will be fixed soon enough!

You know, I actually like the exhaust sound of a built SRT-4!

Incredibly happy with it man! After fixing the hot-glued stripped bolt hole on the one rocker cap, she was good to go. I was a little worried about how big the exhaust ports were hogged out to, but a little copper gasket spray (Thanks Dad!) and there are no leaks at all.

Just ordered my exhaust stuff....should be here next week. The muffler set-up I ordered is a secret......

Re: The sound of an ASCII turbo and a vid! - (Pg. 117) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Threa

This is true Steve. Although any monkey with a wire-fed welder should be able to set you up with a decent 3" exhaust. What I would do is ask around to see who does custom work if you supply all the parts. In otherwords, you buy the cat, muffler, resonator, tubing, flanges, O2 bungs, and gaskets that you want. Then you walk into your pre-determined muffler shop, hand the over the box of parts, plus $200, then point and say, "I want this stuff to go from here to here, up of over this, jig right here, angle left there and I'll be back in 2 hours."

On a greasier note, my fucking VC (I think it's the VC) is still leaking. Ref the pictures below, I'm getting a little pool of oil right around my coolant sensor and I don't know why. I shot it with Simple Green when I got home to clean it up and have a looksee. As you can see in the pics, there's plenty 'o RTV there to make sure nothing comes out between the VC gasket and the head.

The only place I can think that it might be coming from is that rocker end cap bolt closest to the front of the car, that you can see with the VC still on the head. That's the one I had to have drilled out and re-tapped. When they did it, they made the hole bigger and I think I may be getting oil shooting up that and coming down on top of the water neck. I don't know. I'm about out of ideas.

I've checked the bolts on the water neck, EGR valve, and have replaced the VC gasket twice. I've also checked and RTV'd that plastic plug that covers where a dizzy would go on a D16.

The good news is that I'm chasing the leaks to the top of my engine. My headgasket doesn't leak any more, so the leak gremlin has moved up a level to the valve cover. After I fix the valve, I think the next leak will be either the oil cap or dipstick. Frustrating.

I'd welcome anyone's ideas.

This is a leak gremlin. If you see one, step on it.

Re: Where the F*$% is the Oil Coming From?! - (Pg. 122) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread

Clint, for what it's worth when I had my camshaft installed the first time the Valve cover gasket got pinched somehow on the install and it leaked oil just like yours. The second time I had it installed the shop ripped the cam seal and the valve cover gasket causing oil leaks. I'm not sure if there is a special way to install it w/o ripping it but your problem sounds like what I went through.

I didn't think there was a cam seal on that side other than the little plastic doo-dad (passenger side). Off to search the internets.....

Hope I'm not pulling a bonehead moment and forgot to install a seal....

Thanks for the suggestion Ron.

Re: Where the F*$% is the Oil Coming From?! - (Pg. 122) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread

there is a section on the rocker end cap that you are supposed to put hondabond on if you have pulled off the rocker assembly and replaced the cam otherwise you will leak oil. It is kinda hard for me to describe exactly where it is supposed to go. But I believe the big green bible says but since I have my head apart sitting on the floor of my basement right the moment. I will take some pics this afternoon once i get off work and post up where the hondabond is supposed to go hopefully that will help solve your problem

i say put dye into it instead of throwing parts at it, then drive for 100 miles or so, or km there... and put a test light on it or blacklight if u dont have a test light, ull find out where its coming from

It's miles here Adam. They do a weird amalgam of Imperial and Metric measurements. I haven't quite figured out why. What is this dye you speak of? Proper term so I can try to find the British translation for it?

Which part needs HB? Is it right under the #24 (yes I know that's just an alignment sleeve)?
