Re: Day 7 of Install (pg 9)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

LOL - a lot of it yes, I will have to do over. Some of the stuff will stay the same, but most of it won't. I'll be building the engine outside of the car, so it should be pretty much a case of:

A) Build new motor
B) Pull old motor out
C) Put new motor in
D) Hook up some stuff
E) Tune
F) Drive

But it's going to be a while before I am at that stage. I'll have plenty of time to enjoy this stage of the build before I change it all again!

Re: Day 7 of Install (pg 9)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

Not much of an update today folks. But let me impart some advice. If your significant other starts a sentence with, "If you love me, you'll fill in the blank", then its probably gonna be a bad idea.

At least I match my valve cover now. It's got an 'M' on it too.

Anyway here's......

Day 8

I did virtually nothing today. I plan on working on the car all day tomorrow, but realized I couldn't find shit in my garage. Gee. I wonder why? Have a gander....

Momma said I was grounded until I picked up all my toys. I even mopped! Much gooder space to work in now.

Other than that, I took all the black paint of f the 2nd piece of my CAI to use as my intake pipe. I had thought about just leaving it brushed aluminum but it looked crappy. See?

So I used a little primer

And then a little silver paint to make it look like nice aluminum.

And then I spent two hours and got half the lawn mowed. I gotta get a riding mower. This lawn is kicking my ass.

Anyways, there you have it. Work area is prepped for an all day wrench event tomorrow.

That I can accomodate. Here's one looking out my garage down the driveway.

A little back from the garage, same angle as the previous, garage is on the right, off camera.

Other angle, looking at the garage and "Old Man Willow"

My back door.

Different angle of my back doors.

My fishing pond.

And the one time we got snow last year!

So that's my house, and my family (plus a neighbor kid). Welcome to a sneak peek into the life of 'foos (aka Clint). This house is why we don't want to leave England!

Yeah its taking a while, but I'm also going slow. This could probably be done in about 10 hours if you had everything and moved right along, without having to figure out what to cut, de-fabricate, and move out of the way. Slow and steady wins the race.

Alpha, I'll have to check out the NWS later.....Thank God I don't have a crop of back hair too!

Re: Day 8 of Install (pg 10)- Speedfoos' Turbo Install

OK here's a pre-update update.

Day 9 Pre-Update

Ran into a knowledge gap in the old brain pan today. Couldn't figure out how to route vac lines and PCV system with the catch can.

Dunt da dah!!

I did it, with a bit of help from boilermaker1 (mad propz as usual) and some of the local gang on 4guk.co.uk (4th gen, dual carb Civic nutters).

Here's the new and improved 'foos vac line diagram:

And how I made my craptastic 'JDM' Ebay catch can into a blingin', mad effective, baffled UKDM catch can!

Here's your standard "JDM" oil catch can from Ebay. It looks so nice. Just like that tart (UK speak for a hooo-ore) there on the corner. Probably just as cheap too.

Lay her down, open her up.......Pheww!! That looks awful! You get what you paid for mate! Careful you don't take something home with you that you didn't have when you left!

OK time to cut the innuendo and make some baffles! This is that JB Weld stuff I love so much. Its not just for fixin' radiators!

Now just slide it into the can, nice and easy.

Be sure and use plenty of.......JB Weld.

Of course, you also want to stick one in her bottom. We don't want any oil going into the turbo intake.

JB Weld the whole mess back together and presto! Its done. A newly fixed, UKDM catch can, complete with baffles!

I'll paint it in about an hour once the JB Weld cures. I'm using the Kwik set version which sets in 3-4 minutes and cures in an hour.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, that took just about an hour and a half to do.

So why did you add baffles to the catch can?
