Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
LOL - since I'm using up so much bandwidth, I figured I'd better become a supporting member!
Thanks folks, it's the people that make the thread. Some of the same stuff has been posted on other forums (shocking!!), but you guys are the ones who helped make it what it is. I would have definitely fubar'd my motor if it weren't for the folks on this site helping me out!
Enough sappy posting, I'm going to bed!

yeah I'll say.... you're gonna need to be running some major boost to get your moneys worth out of a 3071, then be prepared to hold on tight
As far as the oil temps go, you shouldnt raise it too much, if any. 180s or 190s is pretty common. if its 90+ outside it may go into the 200s. On the track my car tops out at 239, I need a bigger cooler Id like to see it down in the 210-220 range, but I need the room to do it. You're golden if you left room where the air conditioner was... just slip a grid in there and plumb it up. Dont forget to T-stat the feed line though.

hey,
So I read before that your fan doesnt come on after you removed the ac,
shouldnt they just work?Do you still have your 2 fans on the radiator?
Let my know how you fixed it because i am also about to remove the ac.
Btw maybe you can use your ac button for manual switch.I hope mine just
jump on wen its hot enouph for some cooling.
good luck with your 8psi
peace

I didn't think about the AC button as a switch! That's a damn good idea!
My fans never came on no matter how hot the engine got since I pulled the A/C. I still have both fans on the radiator but am just going to run them in a series once I look how the relay is wired up. I let you know which wires I used and how it works in a couple hours.

Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
LOL - thanks man!
I didn't get the A/C button wired up for the fans, so they still don't work. Oh well, will start that tomorrow. I did get a few other things done at least.
Oil is changed from 100-mile old 5W20 Syn. to 5W30 Royal Purple for longer life. There you go Travis. I lied. There is something purple in my car now!
I re-torqued the head bolts just to be safe. They seemed OK and not loose but did tighten a touch. I went through the whole 14, 36, 49 ft/lbs sequence again, so I feel better about that.
I noticed had lost a nut on the middle exhaust stud, a slave cylinder mounting bolt was backed almost all the way out (from moving the O2 sensor mount), and my top alternator mounting bolt would have fallen out if it wasn't so long!! Yikes!! Needless to say I went back through the entire engine bay and re-checked everything. No more close calls like that.
Then I mounted my boost controller in preps for the 9 psi I'll be running in a couple days and ran my breather filter line. Here's a pic:
Here's also a reference folks. When PS fluid is in the bottle, it's nice and clear. Well here's mine after 34000 miles. Kind of dirty! Needless to say I'll be changing this out every 10K from now on!

Re: And on the 52nd Day, 'Foos Created Boost - Speedfoos' Turbo Install
Did you get the sedan or the coupe? That thing is going to be nice though! It's always fun wrenchin' on a brand new car!
My buddy (the one who was filming the boost runs) has just ordered his 335i twin-turbo monster and we've already found a few things that we're going to do to it when it gets here!
