Re: Page 200 = New Video! - Page 200 - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Piston rings and my hood strut brackets arrived today! Woot!
But I have to paint a valve cover before I can mess with the rings.....grrr.
I'm painting a base coat on the cover for my mother-in-law to work from. She's going to do a little airbrushing on it, I can't wait. And it's done!
Bottom end is together now so it's just a matter of time before I shoehorn the motor back in. This will be the last stock bore rebuild on this block though. My rings barely needed to be gapped. Next rebuild will have to bored .020 over.
But anyway, pictures pictures.
Installed the pistons....
Torqued down the girdle and the rods, installed the oil pickup and dipstick guide...
And capped her off with the oil pan. Job done!

Busy day all over yesterday. No lunch break, work ran late and then I got home, changed and went to work on the car. Motor and tranny are in, head is on, engine is mechanically timed, and it's almost all back together.
Pictures. Two of them.

Thanks Scott! How are things at merry old Molesworth? Any plans to PCS back to the states? Galloway is still pimpin' the "V". He goes back and forth on a near daily basis about selling it, GSR swapping it (he already has the head and block) turboing it, or SCing it. It's almost comical.

England is ok, the dollar to pound exchange rate went down, so that helps with travel. However, I'm sick of my job. Being in an office for most of the day drives me crazy, but I am enjoying the slow ops tempo. Nikki and I are planning to PSC back to the states in January. We prefer something in the lower east coast, but we also wouldn't mind going to somewhere in the mid-west. As long as we get a place that has a good mission, location and a place for Nikki to work, I'll be happy.
What's holding back Galloway from committing on the engine swap?

How's North Carolina treating you?
The only thing holding Jackson back is him worried about getting a run in his nylons or his skirt blowing up.
NC is OK. Beautiful countryside, nice weather (so far), lots to do, and cost of living is fairly cheap. We may stay here for a while.
A few more updates.
Speaking of fittings, main vac lines are done.
I realized I had some gaping holes from where the old injector flange bracket was so I put a couple extra hex heads in them. Not much but it does look a little cleaner.
I am moving right along though. Most everything is connected on the motor. Turbo is on and mostly hooked up, just need to attach the last water line to the thermo housing. I've got my old VC on there to prevent shit from dropping into the head. New VC is being cleared right now and drying. Gotta remember to torque down the cam bolt still.
After this little break, I'm going to re-install my front hubs now that I installed the extended lugs on them yesterday after work and gave them a quick de-rust and coat of paint.
OK, I'm starting to get tired.
I lubed up my axles. Although I probably didn't need. As many times as I've had these in and out. they're looser than a 40-year old whore.
But everything went together pretty quickly. No trouble from the ball joints or anything else. And like everything on the car, Honda made the ABS sensors idiot proof. I had taken them off and just tossed them in a box without labeling them. Well they only go on their specific side because the mounting brackets are one sided only. You will know if they are on the wrong sides.
I likey the new extended studs. And yes I know the wheels are dirty. I don't care right now.
Driver's side done as well!
About the only things I have left are to install the DP and DT. Put the FW cover on and tranny stiffener brackets, PS pump, plug the rest of the upper harness in, catchcan, radiator, and a couple other minor things. I may work on it some more tonight I may not. I am feeling kind of beat at this point.

Honestly, not a whole lot. NHRA rules state that cars running a set time or below (can't remember) have to run extended, open bolt studs that the officials can quickly ensure that the studs aren't broken. I don't think my car will ever run that fast, but they were free so I put them on.

Startup will be after lunch. I still need to put the FW dust cover on and tranny stiffener brackets but, aside from adding oil and coolant it's ready to go. I got one hood strut on and I'll get the other after lunch as well.
But she's pretty much ready! Oh, and I remembered to torque down the cam gear bolt.
