Re: Page 200 = New Video! - Page 200 - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Thanks Nick!
My new years resolution was to stop working on my car. Yeah right.
Pulled the head off today and swapped my movers and shakers around. I must say this was my first valve job and it went pretty smooth. Not that hard and I'll never pay a machine shop to do that again. Not that I've done that recently, it's just good to know its so easy.
Everything all lined up here on the counter. I had to reinforce my cheapo valve spring compressor with a little weld. I think I can get about 2 more spring RnRs before this gives up the ghost.
There is nothing prettier in an engine than a cylinder head with a new cam. I can't wait to see how this head performs. Brand new Crower turbo cam, fresh valve job, fly cut and dipped head - pure sex.
And the special Hondata cam gear. It's an AEM true-time 5-bolt gear with a K20 timing pickup plate attached to the back of it. It's the only way us D17 guys can run kpro.
That's it!

Re: Page 200 = New Video! - Page 200 - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Did some more work today. Well, momma is gone so I'm taking a break while my FPR bracket bakes in the oven!
Drilllllllllllled out the hole in the IC piping for the new GM IAT sensor.
Yes. Thank you. Flux core MIG FTW on this one. This is for all of you who don't think I (or anyone) can make pretty welds with flux core. Wire brush cleaning only here folks.
That being said, I still can't wait to switch to gas-shielded!
Spatter filed off and sensor mounted. Clean work areas are for suckas.
Moving right along.
The D17 has a crappy water neck if you want to plug extra stuff into it - no thermo housing adapter blocks for these motors - and I didn't want to run one of those inline hose adapter doodads. Solution? Drill into the radiator......
And JB Weld the temp sensor into that sumbitch! Yes I made sure I got all of the allie filings out of the core before doing this.
Next was my oil temp sensor. Since I bought this nifty adapter from Greg @goautoworks, I haven't had a good place to put my oil temp sensor. I had a goofy y-fitting on it and it just wasn't getting enough flow to read accurately.
Solution? Tap the pan and JB Weld the temp sensor to that sumbitch!
Again, yes, I know it's not the optimal location, I'll move it whenever get around to installing an oil cooler. But its better than no oil temp sensor at all.
That's about it except my d-series.org calendar arrived today!

Yeah, I keep running out of stuff though. Like -6AN line. The NAPA over in Vass advertises that they build hydraulic lines so I may be able to get some from them tomorrow. We'll see.

Thanks Paul! Working on my modular gauge wiring. And I finished the return conversion for the most part. Just need to reinstall the head and screw in the fittings.

Our head port job was designed from a friend who used to work for Honda F1 in their intake manifold and exhaust manifold design systems as an engineer.

Well considering I'm $10K into this motor, I need to focus a little more on putting that power to the ground instead of making more power going spinning .5mm above the pavement.
As I said, I don't doubt your PnP head makes power. But I don't think you and I have ever gotten in an online pissing contest and I don't think we need to start now.
