Re: It begins again. November 2008 on page 188 - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Sweet! Glad to see you're still chuggin' along... I've been following the thread since the beginning and didn't want to see it just stop knowing that there was so much more coming!
Glad the deer thing worked out for you...does that mean you'll be sticking with the EM instead of scrapping it and going with an ES?

Re: It begins again. November 2008 on page 188 - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
Yeah, it's too hard to find an ES1 chassis that fits my budget so I'll just fix this one. Besides, there's not an inch of this car that I haven't futzed with in some way to make it fit me.
Ran to the store this morning (this is still not getting old) and picked up some exhaust wrap and Adam's dumptube.
Here's what I did with the exhaust wrap.
But the bastards at Lowe's sold me the wrong dumptube. How the hell am I supposed to attach this to my wastegate?! Ten fucking feet of 1.25" conduit. Oh well it was $15, guess I'm gonna have to make it fit.
Like this!
Not the prettiest thing in the book, but that dog'll hunt. What's even better is that it clears the hood!
I gotta go clean up now though. I made a mess.

Damn clint you really should close your hood....it looks like a butch of birds shit on your dump tube....wtf happened? That shoot looks dope for DIY.....I suggest some high heat paint for it....DO NOT DO NOT use duplicolor at all....bubbles like crazy. I used VHT from oreilly's and it works like a charm and looks dope.
Sweet ass on that D21 btw!

It was a regular 4-bolt DP (2.5" flange) and I cut that off and put the 3" v-band clamp on there to go with the V-band Garrett turbine housing I bought in an attempt to get enough room to put my AC back on. I haven't fitted the mani and DP to see if it clears yet, but it should. That DP has a really tight radius coming off the flange so she should swing enough to clear the compressor. We'll see.

You can eat me.
I could grind down the welds on it, but I really don't care to. I just hit it with a wire brush. It will only be on there for a grand total of 20 miles anyway. Once I get it inspected down at the DMV for a US title, all that shit is coming off and the new mani and dumptube is getting put on and Adam is getting this mani and DT.

Yeah the 3" issue with lack of room was why we did not go 3" to begin with

Yeah man, it's really tight in there with the AC compressor. 3-inch is nice, but you have to make some sacrifices.
Got some more work done today. Installed the Action On/Off switch... Tranny is bolted back up now as well.
And then wrapped the WG neck and DT which makes it look a little better since a certain few folks were whining about the aesthetics of it... That lefthand stud is giving me some issues though so I'm just going to weld the WG neck to the mani and be done with it. Probably will work on it tomorrow.
