Install Day 13
Ummm.... I ah..... Huh. This is kind of strange.
I think I've installed everything.
I mean, I still have to do some tidying up, lock in the WG vac line, screw the oil feed line back into the oil adapter, and some other misc. re-assembly of the car, but I think I've gotten all the major shit out of the way. Here's what I knocked out today.
Plumbed the new 3 bar MAP sensor in. I forgot I had to put that in there. I was looking at it and the stock one thinking "This new one is not going to fit in the stock location. Plus what I am I going to do with stock sensor and signal wires?" I think I'm getting smarter. It just reads pressure, so I tee'd off the little sensor that hangs on the TB (no, I don't know what it is, but its next to the MAP sensor). Problem solved! The PCS has its own plug for the new sensor so that's done. Have a look.
The I spliced it in through firewall through that hole I showed ya'll yesterday. Done and done, MAP sensor is wired in.
Time to install the PCS-XFC and finish wiring up the wideband.
Andyman97 was right (I bought his setup). Wideband was easy, it has power, ground, narrowband output, and wideband output. Simple. White wire of wideband goes into grey/pink unterminated wire of the PCS loom. Thank God that I bought the plug and play harness! I would not want to wire this thing in myself!
But its done now and was really easy. Three plugs and that's it. Time to mount the unit itself. I cut a big hole in my glove box....
that you will see is
WAY too big. Oh well, I'll fix it later. I just used some electical tape to cover up the hole. I'll fab up a little plate to cover it tomorrow.
Then I ran the serial port in through my center console. I just jerked the stereo out, fed it through the left side of the glove box compartment and then down to the little hole there next to my 3.5mm audio jack. Again, too easy!
Can't have that just dangling out there. There are laws against things like that! I'm going to make a little plate out of aluminum to attach to it. See?
All done. It's very small.
The paint is drying on it as I type this. And that's it for today! Tomorrow I will start getting everything cleaned up and back together for when the exhaust pipe is done and the belt arrives. If the moons align, I should be able to crank this bitch over this week!
