repairs are happening just gathering of parts right now. gonna pull the lip off start sanding it down. main thing is i need frame work. im convinced that the frame is notched because of the sunroof. before the incident the sunroof was in there tight and after it rattles around and has play. but anywho it does not make me want to go turbo and the k swap is still happening :-)
you'll see something turbo out of me eventually and itll be in the form of a nissan and itll start with an sr20 and end in a det lol

That's a sumbitch about your frame though. If the sunroof had play, it also may leak. Hopefully it just jarred the rails loose?
Stopped by my welder today, he still hasn't started on it. Once he does, it will be a quick 2-hour job. I won't start getting pushy unless its the last bit I'm waiting on.
Off to the garage to shred my fingers on wiring!

As promised I de-crappified my alternator and power steering pump today. I tried taking the alternator apart so I could paint it properly, but couldn't, so I gave up and just wire brushed it instead. Here it is all nasty.
Then it was time to bring back the bling! Lots of blingin' engine parts that you can't see really add to the intrinsic value of the car. Plus it helps pull more ass. Look at how nice and shiny it is now. Much gooder.

And then I got after the PS pump to do the same thing. I was able to take it apart without any problem. Well, there's a lot of potential for problems when you take apart a power steering pump. First, PS fluid smells bad. Not as bad as 80/90, but still unpleasant. Its nothing like the sweet smell of burnt oil or a drag strip at noon on a sunny day. Secondly, there's huge potential to seriously screw it up. I cracked mine open just to see what it looks like. Here's what the inside of a PS pump looks like if you're curious.
Hmm. Everything is really shiny and looks like it is in there at precise specs and tolerances. I'll bet I could really fuck this thing up if I tried to disassemble any more than this. Better put it back together and just leave it alone.

OK, PS pump is back together (without extra parts leftover, yay!), painted, and ready to say, "Hey ladies, look at me." Vanity work is complete, its time to dive into the wiring. Wideband is physically installed and the wiring plumbed into the passenger compartment. I drilled a 3/4" hole in my little doflatchy compartment with a Forstner bit to run the wiring. I figure, when I'm driving, the door is open to watch the A/F ratios, and when I'm not, the door is closed. Complete stealth baby. Doors are neat.
Time to do some more wiring. I have to get a fitting welded on to the water neck in order to run my aftermarket water temp sending unit. We all know how the welding is going these days, so for the meantime I tapped into the signal wire on the stock sending unit. Now, read your Chilton's, Haynes, Helm's or whatever before you go hacking into the wiring. Here. THe sensor my index finger is on is the temp sending unit, the other one just says, "Go!" to the radiator fans. Red and white wire is the signal wire.
Speaking of being careful with wiring, let's do up the rest of the gauges! Here they are. Red is positive, red is ground, and red is signal. Easy. Yes, that's speaker wire. Step off, cowboy. I like it.
Good thing I wrote lengthy, detailed instructions when I wired up the mickey pod!
Best thing to do is just close your eyes and dive in. Kind of like jumping into a cold swimming pool. When installing your pillar pod, you have to drill a hole in the pillar fascia. So there's no "Should I? I can always change my mind." Gotta give it the whole ass, half just won't cut it.

I just flipped a coin for every wire to determine whether it was positive or negative. It'll all work out in the end. It's only 12 volts. How hard can it be?
Ahhhh! Zee gauges are finally installed! So much for that sleeper look I was going for. These bad boys are a little obvious. Yes I know my new boost gauge bexel isn't black. I will probably paint it later. But it says 'Garrett' on the face and goes to 30 not 15 like my old one.
Time to do some vacuum line plumbin'! Finished up the vac manifold, tied in the boost gauge and BOV, but need to futz with the WG a little before I cut the lines to it. I didn't have enough plugs for the manifold so I made the little loop you see there. It looks like a smiley face!
In case you're wondering, here's where I ran the O2 sensor line, boost gauge line, and water temp signal wire. It comes in right behind the glove box next to the ECU. There's another one below it, but that one was getting kind of crammed.
That's it for today. Tomorrow is PCS install and finishing up the wideband wiring (power, ground, signals). I'll be done here pretty soon and just waiting on parts!

I've been busting my ass for 2 weeks now, and have probably logged over 40 hours on the install and all the other shit I've been doing while putting the turbo on. If this fucker doesn't turn over, leaks oil, sprays fuel all over the place, or does anything else other than purr like a kitten on Chris' basemap, I'm going out into town and killing the first person I see!
I'd like to think I've done everything right. That it's all hooked up correctly, and I don't have any manufacturer defects in the parts I have. I keep telling myself, "Remember to fill it back up with oil, coolant, and PS fluid before you try to start it, Clint!" This better be fanfreakingtastic when it's done!

Yea I know the feeling turning over a engine that has been pulled apart and put back together is a nerve racking experiance, at least thats how I felt after rebuilding my jeep.
But I'm sure it will start just fine and I'm sure you can handle what kinks might pop up.

looks good foos..i had to decrappify my alternator today too! not because i wanted to, but because it took a shit on me this morning. driving it to my shop with less than 11V charging voltage.. put a nice $230 dent in my tuning money because honda was the only place that had that POS in stock.. looks pretty tho
