Re: I Hacked the Site and some Pipe - (Pg. 125) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
I didn't get much done today. I had to take about 2 hours to clean the garage though. The thing is so small it gets wrecked pretty quick and I couldn't find any of freaking tools because I scatter them as I work. But it's clean and I'm back on track. Things I managed to do today was get the 3" flange welded on to my cat pipe - it had a 3" to 2-1/2" reducer pipe on there which is now gone.
Got my secondary O2 sensor bung put in. Funny story. Drilled out the pipe with my step bit, which requires you to use oil. No problem, drill it out, sprayed the pipe down with carb cleaner to get rid of the oil in preps to weld the bung on. Sat down, struck my arc and I'm welding away until I smell something. I stop the MIG stinger and look to my left and don't see anything through my helmet but the smell is worse. Lift the helmet and notice that both my arm and my Black and Decker Workmate are on fire! Too funny! The carb cleaner that was on the surface of my (wooden) Workmate caught fire from the spatter and subsequently caught my jacket on fire, but the flames weren't bright enough to see through the welding mask. I gotta get a better welding table!
Anyway, so the O2 bung is in and I also welded in the slash cut pipe for the new PCV system. All that's left on the exhaust is to get the length of the zig-zag frame transition piece figured out, weld the flange on to it, finish the three welds (just tack-welded now) on it, and weld it the rest of the exhaust. Then it's just a matter of cutting the rest of the SS line for the PCV setup and putting the T-fitting into the brake booster line.
Here are a couple pics. I had forgotten to take the O2 sensors into account when putting in the new drain bung on the pan, but thank the Great Wolf Spirit that it worked out!
And here's my slash cut for the exhaust vacuum source of the new PCV system. And of course, my pimpin' olive drab oil pan!

Thanks man. I'm pretty excited to move back to the states, even if it isn't until September. Because then I get to fix my bodywork for good and get an actual paint job instead of this bondo, flat silver thing I've got going on.

i understand the feeling! I have a head and a block on the way. Now I was looking at pistons and rods....ugh...700 for fucking rods lol. Tryin to build a motor before I even get a kit. Means it is going to take a bit longer for me to get going.

Supposedly the $400 Carillo F/I rods come out in a couple weeks. I've had Paul reserve me a set. Or Bob is selling his Crowers on Ebay for $415 shipped.

Yep, he will be. I think he said he's getting like 5 sets in the first shipment, but it will be regularly stocked item.
Good news is the exhaust is done! It's welded, de-slagged, painted, hung, and bolted in! I don't have any pics because it's really late on a work night, but I'll post pics and a small vid tomorrow night. I just need to finish routing the rest of the PCV lines and put the car back together. Two hours max as long things go well.

Fuck it. Exhaust has two pin hole leaks, lower rad hose won't stop leaking (shitty fucking OBX hoses), and my drain line is leaking somewhere. I can fix it, I just wish I lived in a real country, and I am tired of not driving it anymore.
