Re: Hey Foos! Make me a Sammich! (Pg 97) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
^^^ Thanks.
OK. I've never seen an HKS BOV like that. Looks weird and however it's in the charge piping can't be good. There should be a v-band clamp around that bottom neck. Not window caulk.
I would put the BOV here, closest to the TB, but the piping looks like it's aluminum isn't it? I can't do anything with aluminum. I would think you'd want it as close to the TB as possible to relieve pressure as soon as possible, no?
Nice redneck welds your boys did. Looks like they stick-welded it. As ugly as they are, they look pretty solid though. Good luck wrapping that! You running an open DT or is it plumbed back in to the exhaust?
Give me the measurements here (length and tubing ID) for the new piece.
For the oil restrictor, you should be able to unscrew that brass piece and put the restrictor in it's place. Like this.

Re: Hey Foos! Make me a Sammich! (Pg 97) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
yeah i know it should be closer to the TB, but this is how the kid have his piping done. was a universal piping kit.. dont have much option with this setup to putting a bov up there unless i mount it side ways, as the hood gets in the way. yeah thats the old skool hks ssqv. either way, im getting compressor surge from the way it sounds (flutters bad).
lmao, yeah thats some redneck welding for yah... ima file it down and then wrap it. should be fine. yeah its straight down and dumps to atmosphere.
as far as the oil fitting, your basically sayin just take out the 90o turn fitting.. hmm have to see how that will end up.... i still need to call dezod and see if there kit comes with a restrictor, then ill know if ones in there or not.
ill get that measurment for you tommorow, so you can weld that tial flange on it for me. and by the way, there is no clamp on my bov... guess the redneck caulked it..... bah, no worries
i worked on my headlights today. i resurfaced them from water damage, ill post pics in sec.

Nice stuff man. I wouldn't worry about the mani coloration at all, I don't think it's related to your WOT boost issues. I simply think either the RSX injectors can't flow enough or are fucked in some other way.
Good job on the headlights man. What did you use to polish them up?
Good games....IDK. The last game I really enjoyed was Quake 4. I've got Clive Barker's Jericho en route, and will try the new NFS Pro Street. But Halo 3, Gears of War, any of the Lego Star Wars are a complete blast.

Re: Hey Foos! Make me a Sammich! (Pg 97) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Thread!!
LOL - they banned Nick again. Just when we were all getting along...
So the car and this country are completely pissing me off. This country pisses me off because I can't go to Home Depot or Advance Auto Parts to buy the shit to replace what I break. I have to find the little, hole-in-the-wall places that carries the parts I need and then pay 3 times as much as I would if I was in the states. You have no idea how hard it is to find even hex-head bolts!!
Since I've been working on the exhaust in my tiny (British), unheated garage for the past two days, I've broken the following tools:
My die grinder (sniff...)
My step drill bit
The following parts:
Secondary O2 sensor
Oil return fitting (on the hose, not the pan)
a wastegate bolt
Here are the pics I have of my broken shit:
I ruined my drill bit putting O2 holes in my downpipe. See. This is right after I shot it with some WD40 to lubricate the hole and make cool special effects.
My mad welding skillz
The exhaust itself is done. I still have to route the dumptube for the wastegate. I've decided not to plumb it back into the exhaust this time and dump into the atmo because I'm pissed at Mother Earth for making it so cold and shitty lately. Global warming my ass. Here's the complete downpipe assembly:
I had to pull the wrap off the downpipe because I couldn't get that damn bottom bolt back in. I may wrap it once it's bolted up after I swap the head next week. I don't know yet.
Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to run my oil return line since this DP is much larger. If I lived in a real country I could just go get some hard line and make it fit. But I've already covered this.
Blech what a pain in the ass. Sorry Richard, I know you're from here and all, but it's a nightmare to get anything done.

really thats some impressive work Clint, and as i always say, if ur not breaking stuff, ur not getting any work done. also, i always buy tools with lifetime warranties, ie cornwell, snap-on etc... welds look pretty good, u think ur gonna get her done today?

LOL - I always miss your IMs and then you've signed off!
No, I've quit working on it for the day. I spent 6 hours on it last night and another 6 hours on it today and I'm tired of being outside in 40 degree weather. I have a space heater, but don't like to run it when I'm welding so I just leave it off.
Yeah, for hand-tools, lifetime warranty is the only way to go. My little B&D grinder had a good run, I just hate having stuff break when I still need it to complete a job. At least the only welding I have left to do is the dump tube fab. It just makes me mad because I was going to use the grinder to see if I couldn't salvage that O2 sensor after cutting it out of the old cat. God I don't want to pay british prices for a new one...
