Post-Install Clean-up Day 1

Thanks. Hopefully (USPS willing) the belt will be here Monday when I go to work and it will be all done aside from tuning.

I buttoned up the inside of the car tonight. I was surprised it only took me about 3 hours. Which is pretty good, considering how much of a disaster it was. Wires and tools everywhere!

It looked like this when I got in there:

There are still tools everywhere, but that's OK. I was able to get everything back in it's place with only two extra bolts left over. Not bad, if you ask me. Plus I moved some things around for aesthetic purposes.

The PCS is no longer in the glove box. The down side to this is that I still have to cover that gaping hole I cut in the back of the glove box. But the upside is that it's completely hidden from view. This way thieves won't be tempted to steal it and then throw it away since they won't have any idea how to tune it!




I also moved the RS-232 port (aka serial) from down by the passenger floorboard to my little doflatchy holder underneath the stereo. I taped it to my wideband display (thanks again andyman97!) because they're close friends.



So that's it for today. Tomorrow is putting the engine bay wire loom back together, finding a new power source for my gauges, re-routing the water lines and I may play with the welder and exhaust if I have time.

No vids today. The camera adds ten pounds. Since I've filmed myself 5 times now, I'm having a little trouble getting around...

ima b following this post pretty well today i have NO voice whatsoever, man what a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium will will do to ya, so basically all you have left to do is wiring in the engine bay n get a real altenator belt? (personally i like the socks)

Pretty much. The wiring in the bay is all cleaned up now. And I also re-routed the water lines for the turbo and the lines for the catch can. I need to get a Y-adapter for the water return on the turbo to plumb it in to the TB return line, so I'll pick that up tomorrow. Still need to fix the exhaust, but that will get done some time this week, it works, it just leaks. I also have to find a different ACC power line for the gauges. I'll look at a diagram tonight and decide which one to tap.

I think I've finally - no really this time - figured out the catch can setup. PCV line goes into catch can to suck vapors out of the crankcase. Port off the VC either stay in the open air (w/ a filter) to draw air into the head, or it gets its own line into the air intake - still pushing air into the head.

The way I had it setup, it was trying to push air into both the head and the crankcase. Not good. I've ordered a breather filter for the VC and corrected the catch can setup.

So just the belt, Y-adapter, and gauge wire before I put it on the road really. I'm going to slather some more exhaust putty on there now so the leak isn't as bad in preps to start it with the new map Chris sent me.

Pics of everything I did today (quite a bit actually) once I'm done mowing the other half of the lawn. Momma did the first half. I think I may just keep her around a little longer!
