The funny thing about that movie (and Hot Fuzz) is the lead actor is a spitting image of a buddy mine, and he's a Yank!
Install Day 14.82
Today's work has absolutely nothing to do with the turbo. Zero. Zip. Nada. But I spent a lot of time on the car so it's going down as install day 14.82. Deal with it.
Since I got my feelings hurt when DSeven said I should give my mirrors back to NASA, I took them off today. I'm very impressionable and if more than 3 people tell me to do the same thing to my car, I'll do it. That's why I have a turbo in it now. Blue and purple neons are next along with a VTEC light for
each potential passenger of the car. Aw yeah.
Here's my professional paint mixing jar. It just doesn't pay to cut corners when doing paint and body work, so don't settle for anything less than the best.
I'm just mixing clearcoat anyway. If I can't eyeball a 2:1 mixture, I need to hang up my hat. Spray, spray, spray, dry, dry, dry.
The I made a template out of some spare aluminum sheet so I knew how big of a hole to hack in my fender to install the side repeaters. Took a couple tries to get it right but it worked out. This hole is also where you add the VTEC fluid.
Now I'd give you guys some actual full-on shots of the car, but I would have had to take the car off all four jackstands, push it out of the garage, and then push it back in after 30 seconds of picture-taking. Love you guys, but you're not worth that much effort.
And yes I know I have to blend the finish around them a little bit. But I think it looks really good. My wife was joking, telling me I always come full circle on my appearance mods! I've done the stock tails -> Altezzas (shudder) -> tinted stock -> now UKDM. Same with the mirrors now too. Oh well. It's kind of like changing underwear. You just have to every once in a while.
