Trust me, that's on my list of things to do when I get back to the states. Shipping would be stupid stupid to get it over here to me now though. I'm sure yours will be sold by the time I get back, but I appreciate the offer!

Bearings are here!
Note. When you order one bearing, you get one half of a complete bearing. Not the whole circular (2-piece) bearing like I thought. Oh well, at least I have half the bearings I need to do all of them and I have what I need to replace the one.

Well, six hours later and the car is back together. I was all ready to go, had rotated the engine over by hand a few revolutions, topped everything up, just needed to put the wheels on. Looks like I re-assembled my blingtastic starter incorrectly. As soon as I touch the positive cable to the battery, the solenoid spins. Too tired to mess with it tonight. I'll take it apart again tomorrow and see what the deal is.

Fixed the starter solenoid, car started up just fine and ran normally.
As soon as my thermostat opened the noise came back. How fucking frustrating is that!
So piss on it. When I get back this summer, oil and water pumps will be replaced, plus crank bearings, rods (and bearings), pistons, and all 5 crank bearings. It's good enough for now especially since I leave in a week anyway. Gah!
Re: Bearing Replaced, Still Squeals!! Woohoo!! (Pg. 148) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Threa
wooosah clint...woosah, you need to breathe, we dont need you to ballistic on your car. i can understand how frustrated you are. thats why you need to get back stateside so we can help you out.
Re: Bearing Replaced, Still Squeals!! Woohoo!! (Pg. 148) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Threa
Yeah, I haven't really gone ballistic on it yet. It's more apathy than anything Edwin. I've been beating on it a little since replacing the bearing and it's been just fine. Bottom end is disposable at this point anyway.
I did hear from some of my V8 buddies that I should get the new crank assembly balanced before installing it though. This is a first heard for me. Is this something we need to do with the D17?
Re: Bearing Replaced, Still Squeals!! Woohoo!! (Pg. 148) - The Speedfoos' Turbo Threa
if you spin a rod or main bearing on a v8 crank that weighs more than a d17 block and crank combined...sure. most machine shops (in my area at least) will just measure the journal thats damaged, if it's worth salvaging, it'll get polished and that'll be the end of that. provided that it was well balanced to begin with, and your pistons and rods (both ends) all weigh the same, you should be pretty balanced overall.

dam foos everything in your car is so clean, even your starter. i need to clean my block especialy since i have a rear main seal leak and oil is starting to spread all over the block. good luck with dat squeek.

Thanks Edwin, that' s what I thought since none of you cats had ever mentioned having to balance the rotating assembly as part of the standard procedure.
Lately it seems that the engine stays clean because I don't drive it much though!
