Re: 01-03 to 04-05 Gauge Cluster Swap: DONE! Pics inside w/ Pin removing FAQ & Video
i have a question, i just got a new cluster with 100k miles to more closely match my original miles, but its from an LX with side airbags. i believe the newer lx came with abs so it should have a light for that, but i dont have side air bags. is that light gonna stay on all the time? or am i gonna have to get creative with the wire and either disconnect or ground it to turn the light off... also has anyone disconnected the A/T gear position indicator wire, i hate that green dot thats on all the time when youre driving. i dont get the cluster in for another week so i cant play now, but im mainly wondering about side srs light.

Mine is from an 05 LX and i obviously dont have side airbags in my vp. i never had any problems hooking it up... and i don't have a gear indicator, just the gears. i don't have a light saying something is wrong with my airbags or anything. :-D
Re: 01-03 to 04-05 Gauge Cluster Swap: DONE! Pics inside w/ Pin removing FAQ & Video
but does your new cluster have an icon that says "side airbag off" because i thought only certain cars have side airbags. i dont think ALL 03-05 lx/ex civics came with side airbag but i could be wrong. my current 04 cluster (new style same as what i just bought) does not have side airbag icon. i looked at the gear wire diagram and im just gonna leave it. too many wires and i dont think i can disable it without causing problems. its the P R N D with the green and red dots that light up for auto trans depending which gear youre in. worst case i will just put some tape behind the side airbag icon to block the light.

yeah bud, i don't know if the one it came off had side airbags either...... good point. however the gear selector light hasn't ever showed up on mine? yours is a stick too right?
Re: 01-03 to 04-05 Gauge Cluster Swap: DONE! Pics inside w/ Pin removing FAQ & Video
no mines auto lol. so its got the gear strip and the dots light up depending what gear its in. like a red dot for park and green dot for drive. i was gonna try to find a manual cluster but its very rare. if you get a chance can you check your cluster to see if it has that side srs icon? you can prolly still see the outline even if its not lit up.

okay so the side airbag light stayed off, but this new cluster does not have abs light. so i guess the newer LX never came with that. if anyone wants an LX coupe cluster with side srs and 101k miles lemme know. i found another one on ebay for EX with the exact miles i have now and am bidding on that one.

Re: 01-03 to 04-05 Gauge Cluster Swap: DONE! Pics inside w/ Pin removing FAQ & Video
My first post and I'm reviving an old thread already... OP, thank you for the DIY! It helped out a ton doing my swap. Man those pins were a PITA to remove with a paper clip.
I got my cluster for $10.50 on Ebay. The only thing wrong with it was a plastic glass protector was broken. So now the dealership wants about $35 or so. My question is, how do I know where they made the Civic that my cluster came out from? They're asking if it was made in Japan, Canada or the US. I know you have to look at the VIN number in order to find that out but what if I can't get it from the seller on Ebay. Am I SOL?
Re: 01-03 to 04-05 Gauge Cluster Swap: DONE! Pics inside w/ Pin removing FAQ & Video
I can't confirm, But I'm pretty sure all that matters is the style matches. I don't remember there being any difference in the plastic covers for the clusters, wether Auto or Manual, Sedan or Coupe. Just as long as it's for an 03-05 cluster

Yeah, that makes sense to me. The one thing that the Parts Salesman over the phone told me there are 2 different part #'s. He said both of the pictures they have there look the same.
Now would the problem be that there's an Si model and he's getting it confused with that one?
This is gonna drive me a bit nuts. I kind of don't wanna order it since it's special order and if I return it, I'll get charged 15%.
I'm going tomorrow for an oil change and maybe some recalls, hopefully I can see the pictures the guy is talking about. I'll report back tomorrow or Saturday.
But if anyone has anymore info, that'd be great. Thank you!
