My Spring Break Mods are Done!!

Take a look in my sig, I finally painted my emblems and inserts, got my battery moved (biggest pain in the as-, had just about the entire interior out of the car). Painted my drums and calipers silver (rather than green), also ran the new wiring for my radar detector, this one has a remote mute button that I mounted in the console. After many hours, my car looks a lil different. Let me know how you like it. Peace

Hey! Car looks great! Love that relocated battery... but, what purpose does that serve? A few friends of mine have done that on domestics to make room for superchargers/turbos...

What are you using to hold your cellphone up where you can see it? I used to have an arm thingy for my blazer that did that, but I had to drill holes etc. to put it in... is that what you are using?

Love those smoked/painted headlights... got any pics taken during the process? I'd like to see how you taped it all off, and what you used to primer it and stuff.

Again, looks great!

Ah, finally someone did the concept civic headlight mod. Nice.

Did you relocate the battery for better weight distribution? Anti-corrosive measure? What's up?

The Battery : I moved it on my del sol a few years back, and noticed a bit of a difference. It's good for weight distribution (taking 30 lbs off front wheels and putting 30 lbs over back), plus not many people do it and its relatively inexpensive. I have pics of where I ran the positive wire if anyone is interested in doing it themselves.

The Headlights : I don't have pictures of the process, but I took out the orange inserts, masked them, and popped them back into the inserts so they'd cover the corner part. Then I masked the parking light park with masking tape. I used adhesion promoter spray as a primer and then heat resistant low gloss black paint.

I have a hands free kit for the cell phone, and mounted the Nokia mount on the end of a radio shack flexible arm.

Any more questions I am at jjw251@psu.edu

There is only one thing you relocate your battery: more room in the engine bay --->
Which also gives you room for intercooler piping, turbo manifold, turbo, aftermarket radiator and fan and whatever you can to for engine mods. It also make it easier to wire up a sound system. Dammm, I wish my rear strut bar would come in. I want to make my custom box NOW! Damm the world for backorders.

wonder if you ran those gauge cables right next to your radio antenna on the passenger side door sill. My radio interferred with my subs and vice versa.

Only ran the positive out of the trunk, grounded the negative in the tire well after some sanding and some conductive coating. I ran the wire under the molding along the passenger sill, as you guessed. Haven't had a problem with the radio yet. But that under molding area would be perfect to avoid running a nitrous line under the carpet.

I know this is an old post, but im thinking of getting a lighter battery and relocating it to the trunk...Wouln't it be better to mount the battery in the middle of the trunk?

i did the same thing with my battery, infact i even have the same box as you. I drilled holes in the bottom and bolted it to my trunk though instead of using that strap. Make sure that you buy a dry cell battery though. The stock one is vented, that means that it releases a poisonous gas out from the battery that is very flammable and will ignite if exposed to a flame. The gas isnt deadly, but will make you very sick.
