yea ive got a 01 coupe and i had clunking/popping noise coming from driver and passernger side after i lowered it. i always thought that my friend had ****ed something up while helping me out. i hate driving in parkin lots and turning because people give me weird looks when i turn.
i hear this popping noise everytime i drive from my apartment. i never really hear it on the road. also i checked the height of the car from the tire to the wheelwell with my fingers (i know it isn't very accurate) well the front right and the rear left are about a finger width shorter than the other wheels. from looking at the car head on it looks normal. does this mean that something is wrong with my shocks??
Having my front struts replaced today. I had been hearing noises from the front end for a while now and never did anything about it. I was at the dealer last week picking up my RSX sway bar and the parts guy asked me if I had my struts replaced yet. Then he told me about the issues with the 2K1........ sure enough, when I took my car in this morning they found that the struts were leaking. They are replacing them under warranty!
I must say, my local Honda dealer has treated me well and they are perfomance minded so they don't give me any grief. BTW I have 79,000 kms on my car and I was told the strut problem was covered to 100,000kms.
Hope this helps anyone who may think their warranty has expired.
What dealer did you go to? In Toronto? I'm at 99,400 kms and I'm bouncing around like a mexican jumping bean! I'm desperatly hoping to change my struts soon, but tokiko keeps putting off their product. There's no sense going to OEM if you have to pay to replace.....
I was told that the suspension warranty only covers until 60,000 kms, and when I first brought it in with the complaint I was at 70,000 kms.
I went to my local Honda dealership armed with what CD told me and some technical service bulletins I found on this site. I told them about my problem and they instantly told me that my warranty was 60,000 kms (I have 99,500). I then proceeded to pull out the TSBs that I printed off, and they were still hesitant to commit to looking at my car under warranty. I then told them that a friend of mine (wink wink CD) took his car in for the same problem and that they fixed it because it was a known problem and that he had until 100,000 kms to fix.
Long story short, my dealership finally confirmed that Honda knew about the problem and extended the warranty to 100,000 kms for this suspension problem. I'm taking my car in on Monday morning and they will inspect and change whatever parts are necessary.
I found out just in time, because 1 more week would have put me over the new warranty period.
Why won't Honda communicate the new warranty to their customers?????
Does anyon know if the US Honda dealerships have extended the warranty for this problem? I'm at 55,000 miles right now and I have some weird noise in my front right side...but there's no point in me going in if they're going to charge me for the service.
the problem when you hear the clunk when you turn lock to lock it the upper front strut mout bushing/bearing assembly mine blew within a month of buying the car... had it replaced when i upped my suspension and its been fine on hard driving for 50k miles now
Over 50,000 miles on my 2k1civic. No more warranty. Everytime I hit a bump, I be bouncin up and down. When I turn my steering wheel, an annoying metal click noise starts to piss me off. Even steering my wheels while park it clicks. Honda gave me an estimate of $450 max total repair to replace the struts and thats not to include fixing the clicking noise. They say they don't know whats causing it. I went to BelleTire they'll do it for $362. Still looking for a better deal.
Ill add to the bad suspension list. in march i had a rear strut replaced it had blown. lately ive been noticing a real rough and noisy ride coming from the front. so i take it in today and it turns i have a bad control arm and 2 front struts starting to leak so they are being replaced through my extended warranty thank god for that. this whole bad suspension thing has really tainted my respect for hondas.. i guess i just have bad luck with cars.
i took my car to honda the other day for an oil change and to also have them find out why my steering wheel was offset. turns out i need new front shocks. i've only had the car for 11 months and already the shocks are done. good thing is its covered under warranty but these must be some shitty shocks. my car is 2003 model.
