just get the koni's. if installed correctly, there are great. ive had them for a while now and no complaints. someone mentioned they are going to wait for someone else to make them because they don't want to cut factory shocks apart...there are only two options for manufacturers. 1) do what koni did and require cutting to use stock steering arm. 2) make a new strut with steering arem (costing a lot of money) so u can wait and have to do the same thing, or yu can get koni's and be happy!
I have an early 2001 civic EX sedan. After reading all the postings on this topic I am still somewhat confused about this "recall suspension issue" for the civic. I have had the civic at the shop a couple times, most recently for a failed fuel pump/regulator. There has been no mention about any recall on the suspension on the early 2001. Are you all saying that Honda has "semi-recalled" the early 2001 civics for shock replacements? There is no question the car need frirmer shochs, mine is completely stock expect for a strut bar on the front. If anyone has a service repair info sheet or a recall? number please post such. Thanks
there is no recall on the struts Honda has updated the struts and are replacing them only if they are leaking

Well I own a 2K2 civic coupe and I have had them replaced twice now once at 6000 KM and again at 14000 Km I am rolling on to 20000Km now and they are leaking again. Honda said it if it happens again they will use an aftermarket part i dunno but I dont like going there every few months to get them replaced.......does anybody know of an aftermarket set that is good????

if it happens to you again, remember the lemon law. have them replace your car. but it's not good if you already have your mods. just a thought.

the only aftermarket shocks and struts are koni adustable. i DOUBT honda will use those because it requires cutting factory struts apart and reusing part of them. plus they are like 450-500 bucks...

too bad freaking kyb and tokico doesnt make shocks for 7thgen yet. those guys takes too much time to make shocks. not even out yet
Hmmm...I dunno about this recall. Now this is for all the 2001 Coupe and Sedans only? How come peps be saying they have this problem on the 2002. Clucking you say, does that happen when you brake? Cuz I can think of an instance or a few times where I have heard something click while breaking and accelerating from a dead stop. If this many people are having all these problems, how come Honda has not done a recall. Maybe people are just ignorant. I dunno. I was thinking of getting some Neuspeed or H & R lowering springs on my 2001 Civic but now Im worried. If they dont do the recall for me, wtf do I do now? I really dont got money for some struts/shock absorbers.
i had my front struts replaced last week. when i pulled out of their laneway 10 minutes after they fixed them they did everything they did before. its horrible. they screwed up my allignment too.
