Installing JIC-Magic FLT-A2 tonight have questions...(update INSTALLED)

Will the RSX kit fit without modification? Obviously no one on this forum has them installed but does anyone know of anybody that does?

thanks

I think it will need modification. Hondawerx says that you need control arms from a RSX, but other than that I don't know.

You need RSX tie rod ends. I think the stock tie rod might need to be shaved a little, but I cannot say how much.

Front axles if you're doing the brake conversion but that won't work unless you have the K-series engine with it because where's the intermediate driveshaft going to go for a D17 engine?

i believe the rear lower shock mount may have to be shaved fit the shock in (correct me if im wrong). other than that, it should be straight up forward. Just wondering where did you get the jic flt-a2 from and how much? If you can i like to see pics.

A little off topic, but I was checking out the Different top end suspensions for our car, mainly Tein Both the SS and Flex and The JIC jic flt-a2 . the SS is the weakest of the spring rates, at 336F/448R for the civic model and 448F/559R for the RSX. next up is the jic flt-a2 at 450F/506R for both the RSX and Si versions. lastly the Tein Flex is rated at 448F/559R the same as the SS versions for the same car. It will be interesting as to which setups jic flt-a2 Vs Tien Flex will enhance our cars performance the most. both have taken different approches. Tien going with a more agressive spring rate on the rear (i assume to get as much weight to the back in corners) where Jic went with a weaker back but a stronger front. On paper it looks like the Tien will help get the back to rotate better(less understeer or possibly Oversteer) where Jic looks to have taken a more moderate route (possibly more Understeer Vs. Tien) Both the jic flt-a2 and the Tien Flex cost about the same $1800-$1900.

Interesting..........

B&G is not listed here because they dont publish the spring rates of their suspension.

you got jics??? daaaamn thats sick foo...
EP3.. only thing you might have a problem with is alignment. aswzero had a problem with it. something to do with the tie rods. ya i know if it was for the DC5 you would have to shave 1mm of each side of the lower rear bracket. damn thats a nice setup tho, take pics of it if you can

That's what I was trying to point out. I forgot to mention that it was the toe angle he had an issue with.

A little toe out ain't bad if you're racing though it'll cause more wear on the tires. But for street, it's not necessary.

For the rear you need a camber kit. That's the only good thing about our stock front suspesnsion compared to the traditional 4-wheel double wishbone is that you can adjust the front camber with the JICs.

Those coilovers retail for $1,980 as per JIC-Magic.com.

I can't wait for you to put'em on. I want to be 100% sure that the EP3 ones work.

I'm sure the ride quality on those is nothing less than impressive, but I am sure dober will say something along those lines.

It gets no better than JIC-Magic. And that is in my unbiased opinion.

We installed them (EP - FLT-A2) this morning and I've been driving around on them all day. I can barely get a finger in there and the rear is tucking a little tire. I think they are without a doubt the best modification i've done so far.

Of course when I went for the first drive I really put the JIC's to the test. They performed just like I would expect them to, exceptionally well. I have the damper setting on about halfway between the hardest setting and the softest setting and it handles like a dream. I went over bridges that gave me whiplash before with my neuspeed race springs and it felt like stock. Also, steering the car was ten times easier than it was before. I think there is a little oversteer, I need to get a alignment bad. When taking corners at high speeds the car seriously feels like a go-kart, very minimal body roll and i have no other suspension mods. Another thing that I noticed is when taking off from a dead stop the car stays planted and doesnt jerk back like it used to. I think that will make a little difference next time at the track : )

Here are some pics I took after the install. I will take my wheels off tomorrow and take some more pics.

EDIT- Installation was a breeze we took our time and finished in two hours and thats with rebalancing my wheels and tuning the JIC's

not at all with the setting i have right now they ride better than stock. when i hit bumps they rebound instantly. i could stiffen it up a little but i like the way it rides for daily driving.

dober... I am so jealous... if you didn't live on the opposite coast of me, I'd hunt you down.

Sweet - sweet - sweet. You mentioned performance but forgot ride quality. But when you do give us some info on ride quality, tell us how it rides/handles on various settings.

And I'm extremely glad that Ziel made it work on the coupes/sedans without modifications.

Car looks good, too. No doubt they can go lower than Teins.

JIC-Magic.
